June 2018 Loot Crate Review - Colossal

Loot Crate's June 2018 "Colossal" crate features Jurassic Park, Godzilla, Ghostbusters, and The Hulk.

The box inverts into a computer monitor - of course, on the screen you'll see Dennis Nedry's famous saying.

You'll receive this information sheet - the front shows off all of the items from your box, while the back shows the mega crate and DLC details.

Dilophosaurus Pin - Value $5?

This month's exclusive pin design features a cute little kawaii dilophosaurus. The design comes from 100% SOFT  - and you'll see more of this style of work in other box products.

Along with you're loot pin, you'll always get some digital bonuses:

2 Hulk comics! The Comixology perk is seriously one of my favorite parts of the subscription - while it's only a few bucks in value ($3 total this month, to be exact), I really love using Comixology so it's really perfect for me.

Jurassic Park Shirt - Value $15?

This month's exclusive shirt design also features the artwork of 100% SOFT - so if you liked the pin, you'll love the shirt.

The XL was a tad bigger than I thought it'd be, so the fit was a little odd for me. I'm sizing down to a Large for next month's review to see if it also runs a bit large.

Ghostbusters Drawstring Backpack - Value $15?

This might be my favorite item of them all. As a young Ghostbusters fan, the gold standard of Ghostbusters toys was always that little blue plastic Proton Pack - does anyone remember this beauty:

I never got one of these, but my friend did - so I got to play around with it all the time.

OK, focus Eric, focus.

With that in mind, I had a blast with this thing - while it's not as cool as that 1984 toy, it's still pretty solid.

Godzilla Plush Toy - Value $15?

Next, you'll get an 8-inch plush Godzilla toy from Kidrobot.

As soon as I removed this from the box, Buckles had his eyes on it and eventually got his way - he really loves this little guy. Overall, it's a quality plush - and it's great that it sits upright!

Hulk Lenticular Print - Value $10?

The final item is a print, but a much cooler print than ever before - it's a lenticular print that brings Bruce Banner and The Hulk together like it's always meant to be! It's about 6x9 and ready to be stuck up on your wall with some tac. These type of things always bring me back to my old Marvel card collections where you'd covet the holographic or lenticular cards. Lots of personal nostalgia this month.

Verdict: This one arrived in a reasonable window, but they are still having issues with some of their other lines - it's hard to pinpoint whether or not one line or another will be on time, so you'll have to note that before buying. Overall, the value is definitely there this month, but the kawaii Jurassic Park designs didn't really fall into my personal taste - but I liked enough of the other items to still get value out of it, so it was a decent month for me.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, You'll see the current them on the landing page - theme cutoffs are the 19th of each month at midnight EST.

I find the quality of their shirts has drastically dropped over the years. The sizes are off, they shrink in weird ways, and the seams are crooked. It’s why we no longer subscribe.
