ModCloth Stylish Surprise – Available Now!

I was disappointed in my first purchase. A astronaut charm on a chain necklace, a cheesy desk plaque, and the only thing I did like, a kitten face wristlet purse ( but the hubby said is that for kids:0( it was a bust for $30

I did get 2 duplicate dresses, but was given store credit for them. Here’s what I got in size 4X:

Overall it was ok, but I feel like the raise in price for dresses to $25 is too much and that modcloth’s style is moving from 1950s/cute prints into 70s/boring cuts… so maybe its just time for me to move on.

I am also ticked that it took them sooo long to do this stylish surprise which I was told by their customer service that it was taking so long because they wanted to make sure it would be done right. … and then I got 2 duplicate dresses ALONG WITH a card hand signed by the person that supposedly packed my box with care. uh… no ya didn’t derek.

I mean, you have GOT to stop this duplicates problem Modcloth! There has to be a way and it shouldn’t be all that hard. Please work on it. Thanks

3. Lacy top in brick color that smelled of someone’s perfume (yuck) and is something I’d never buy myself, but actually, I liked it when I tried it on. (Blu Pepper brand)

Oddly, I made out pretty well. I got a black cap sleeve stretch sheath dress that fits well and will be great for work. It’s Modcloth brand.

The shirt that I received is nothing like anything I would ever order, it has like lace on the sleeves and shoulders and is a brick color. Again, I would never choose to buy it, but when I put it on (other than the smell of someone else’s perfume), it wasn’t bad. I feel like I can make it work.

I feel pretty good / lucky about the surprise this time around.

I’m incredibly disappointed. I’ve always missed the accessories category during past Surprises, so this time I ordered 3, thinking is get one decent item, maybe something to regift. Ughhh

I got a pouch for sunglasses from Perverse that sold for$5.99, a giant men’s watch that I have no use for (didn’t even come in a case which just screams CHEAP), and watch with a bee on it that was just not worth it. 🙁

I had such low expectations and was so pleased with everything!!!!

I got mine today and everything will go up for swap 😩 I did three apartments ; and got two of the same books for mixing drinks and one of those signs saying cat hair don’t care . One dress that is very nice just isn’t me and a outwear that isn’t my style at all reminds me of carpet my grandma had in the 80’s . I do have to say yes it’s a gamble of what you get but it’s unfair to send duplicates . That’s the part that sucks !

My surprises arrived. I got a cute mustard yellow tunic with raccoon print, velvet burgundy blazer, black heels with cat eyes on the foot and paw print on the side.

My accessory was a cute cat head shaped sunglass case, my home item was a pink hardback cat shaped journal. Good thing I’m a cat lover; 3 items were cat shaped.

So all in all I feel like I wasted my money. There’s not anything I actually really like. Well the unicorn earrings are cute. So a bust for me but maybe everyone else got lucky.

I got my items. I’d say that the clothes and shoes are a good buy, but the jewelry, apartment, and accessories were not. Most of the items I was sent in these categories probably never even retailed for the price I paid. They also sent me a makeup product, and considering these are usually returned items, I’m not confident that it is a new product.
The clothing, although a gamble, is usually a decent deal. I got a few nice pieces, but I also got a cats in Victorian portrait garb printed dress. Therein lies the gamble.

My box arrived. I completely lucked out! Just one item did I feel the $ was not worth it. I ordered 3 shoes, 2 apartment, 1 outerwear, and 1 dress. I received a pair of Chinese Laundry suede wedgies-LOVE, Wanted over the knee false suede boots-LOVE, L’Artiste posters with tassels-LOVE, 1 faux leather bomber jacket-looks unbelievably rich looking-LOVE, 1 dusty lilac lined lace maxi dress-LOVE, 1 hardcover mixology drink recipes, nice, but I no longer drink alcohol-SWAP, 1 gold desk marker that says I Donut Care. Lol-cute but disappointing for $10-SWAP. SO EVERYONE NO REPEATS!! I hope everyone else lucks out also. I will always go for the Modcloth Surprise!

Part of the fun is the absolute surprise. I go in knowing i may hate the item. After reading reviews and what people have to say here, I must be one of the only people that will wear anything or use something goofy even if I dont like the item. Chances are that it’ll grow on me. I bought the top and apartment. I may buy another top, but as surprises in brands are usually to offload items they have a ton of, I dont know if i want to risk a duplicate.

I’ve been waiting for Stylish Surprise, but heard some of the disappointing comments regarding duplicates and low quality items. I stayed conservative with 1 each of tops, shoes and jewelry. Not too bad for price, honestly, since for me one decent quality shirt can easily cost over $40. I get that Stylish Surprise was cheaper in the past, but the prices overall are still a steal in the grand scheme of things. My fingers are crossed for items I’ll love!

It concerns me that they still have things in stock that sold out in minutes previously. What does it mean? My order has already shipped. Can’t wait to see what I get. I ordered 1 outerwear, 3 decor, 1 jewelry, and 2 accessories. Hope it gets here soon. Hope I didn’t just burn that money…

I got one each of several categories. The accessories is such a big range, and I thought I’d be unlucky enough to get socks, but today I noticed the order details actually says “Accessories – Handbags and Wallets” so I’m hoping I get a cool handbag.

i can’t decide! Last time I grabbed a few outerwears and some fillers to reach free shipping. Then they emailed me that outerwear was out of stock and I would only receive the filler items. Now, prices are higher, and no coupons and there is sales tax. I can’t seem to pull the trigger without thinking first like I did in the past.

I’ve been stalking for stylish surprise for months now. Yesterday I was sick and didn’t check email GAH I’m so frustrated! I would have definitely gotten 1 or 2 outerwears; but my size is gone now. Oh well, at least I got my dresses. (although I’m p.o.d they jacked the price up to $25 a piece! That’s getting unreasonable I think seeing how risky ss can be.) They’d better be good or miraculously send me that retrolicious cat portrait dress I wasn’t able to get. It could happen right? I seriously need that dress in 4X if anybody has one, let me know!

So expensive!!!!! I ended up buying a dress, bottoms, top, and pair of $20 leggings…almost $90 with tax! I hope I get more than pajama top and bridesmaid dress this time 😭

I am also sad about the price increase. I have learned never to order 2 of something since you have high odds of getting doubles. I got my first ever home item, 1 accessory, 1 dress, 1 bottom (please no overalls again), 1 outerwear (got the coolest coat ever least year), and that’s it. In the past I got shoes but they were either ugly or fit me weird. Good luck everyone!!

I have tried for YEARS to snag apartment!

When I was able to go on and saw it was still available I snap three, which turned to 4 before I I could finish checking out, I was so extatic!

Now after reading how many others got this category and some of the not so great things people received (I had only heard of appealing items before today) I just hope they didn’t flood the category, just to have more inventory ,with items I couldn’t even want for $10!

Either people aren’t buying – quite possibly because of the ModCloth tendency to send duplicates, triplicates – or they have a lot more inventory this time around. Because they certainly aren’t selling out like before ……..
