MunchPak Original Box July 2018 Review
Each month's box comes with this welcome card highlighting who curated your box!
Granuts Coated & Roasted Peanuts - Retail Value $2.00 (currently out of stock)
Dang, these are SO GOOD. They look like large weird peanuts out of the bag, but they're really peanuts covered in some crispy delicious coating that gives them the different look. Whatever is happening here, I am on board. It's very hard to stop eating these.
Ulker Kat Kat Tat with Cocoa Filling - Retail Value $1.00
As you can probably tell by the photos, this treat was a bit of a mess. Its flaky pastry body has chunky sugar on top and the filling has a lovely light hazelnut chocolate flavor. It was impressive how moist it stayed in the package and is reminscnet of a chocolate french croissant, but flakier.
Ricolino Kranky Chocolate Corn Flakes - Retail Value $1.00 (currently out of stock)
Chocolate coated corn flakes you say? I am listening. This package is tiny but it is stuffed with this crispy chocolatey goodness. Bite through the soft chocolate coating to reveal the crunch of a corn flake. Back when I was a kid, I was only allowed to eat Raisin Bran, Cheerios, and Corn Flakes. No sugary fun stuff, but my brother would pour SO MUCH sugar on his corn flakes to make do. I'm glad I am allowed to eat whatever I want now. TAKE THAT, MOM!
Yumy Yumy Peach Rings - Retail Value $2.00
Peach rings are my number one favorite gummy of all time. I've never had this brand, but they stack up with the others I've tried. Bursting with peach flavor, these are coated in sugar. I like to suck all the sugar off of these first to be left with a peach ring to twirl around my mouth.
Zapps Dill Pickle Potato Chips - Retail Value $2.00 (currently out of stock)
This kinda snack is my JAM. I love potato chips and Zapp's is a favorite of mine that makes all sorts of unique flavors. Here they've sent the Dill Pickle flavor that is not just any dill pickle, but Potbelly Brand. These have a wonderful dill flavor that makes my lips pucker a bit.
Churrumais Con Limoncito - Retail Value $2.00 (currently out of stock)
This package is so bright and fun and oh my good god these are delicious! These spicy little crunchy sticks pack a wee punch but are then immediately overshadowed by a wonderful lime flavor that tastes so fresh! Gosh, my tongue is slowly getting hotter but I CANNOT STOP EATING THESE.
Zazers Gelt Pineapple Coins - Retail Value $2.00
I'm not going to lie, I was a little afraid to try these. They look like the chocolate coins my mom would put in my Xmas stocking as a kid, but it's apparent as you open them that they are not. The creamy colored coin is actually a semi-soft candy, kind of like a taffy. They're a little slow to soften upon chewing but I ended up really liking these! The pineapple flavor is subtle and these aren't as sweet as I would imagine them to be. Very different!
JJ's Bakery Peach Pie - Retail Value $2.00 (currently out of stock)
This pie crossed over from just being moist to being...wet? It's not really flakey at all, just very loaded up with peach sweat so that it's almost soggy. The peach in here is also sickeningly sweet to the point that I can't enjoy it. The box says it has real fruit filling, but that it is also artificially flavored, so I'm not sure what to think. Overall, it's a bit much for me.
Artek Classic Wafers - Retail Value $2.00 (currently out of stock)
You can load me up with any type of wafer (chocolate preferred) and I will probably not complain. I love the combination of creamy filling and light airy wafers! These are thin yet wide and have the perfect crispiness to them. The filling is delightful and is apparently "sweet caramel milk cream". Yes, please.
Lotte Koala's March Cookies -Retail Value $2.00 (currently out of stock)
A real classic, in my opinion, Koala's March is a must for anyone who loves cute treats. These little chocolate filled puffed wafer cookies have adorable koala images stamped on them and go down really easy. I can eat this whole box with no issue.
Spezi Orange Cola - Retail Value $5.00 (currently out of stock)
The final snack is a drink, which surprises me! I've had an orange soda before, but never an orange cola. I very rarely drink soda, so this will be a little treat for me. I have to say that I'm having a hard time picking up on the orange flavor at all in this. It's pretty good but just tastes like regular cola to me. This is apparently cola and orange soda mixed so maybe that's why it's so subtle. Andy took a swig of it and said he could taste the orange a bit if he swished it around his mouth a bit like a fine wine. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Verdict: MunchPak took me on quite a lengthy world tour of snack foods from all over. I am always partial to savory snacks (like the dill pickle chips and lime corn snacks) but also loved the peach rings and wafers. This was a TON of food to discover for under $25.00 which I think is a pretty good deal for things I can't get at the local grocery store.
