My Japan Box KitKat July 2018 Review
As it has been since the warmer months started, everything this month is melted. Normally, I'd contact customer service about something like this, but theirs seems to be non-existent since I never got a reply from a ticket I put in nearly a month ago to cancel. I was able to cancel via PayPal, but not soon enough and received this as my last box.
Loose KitKats x2
I'll start things off with the two loose single KitKats that were in this months box. One is the premium mint which I received a whole bag of last month. It's probably one of my favorite KitKats I've ever had. If you like mint, seek them out. The other is from the "luxury" line of KitKat that is a single stick instead of the usual double and tends to have crumbled fruits or nuts on top. I can't be sure, but I think this one is yogurt with almond and cranberry. Pretty good, and a little sour.
Cookies and Cream Ice Cream Chocolate Kit Kat - Retail Value $5.99
The first full-size bag is a new flavor for me! Yay! The package is icy cold and has chocolate sandwich cookies in ice cream on the front, surrounded by ice cubes, as well as artic animals on the back and inner wrapping. These white chocolate kit kats with cookie bits are ridiculously sweet but really tasty. For an added level, you can pop them in the freezer as a cold treat.
Luxury Yogurt with Double Berry and Almond KitKat - Buy a full-size bag for $12.99
Next, we have the first of three from the luxury line of KitKats. Like the single one above, these come as a single stick instead of the usual double. The bag I received is a smaller version than the full size that I see available online and only contains 6 KitKats. You can smell the fruit as soon as you unwrap it, and the berries bring a little bit of tartness to the yogurt base. Inside there is berry filling that matches the crumbles on the outside. Very tasty and not as sweet as the cookie ice cream.
Luxury Cranberry & Almond KitKat - Buy a full-size bag for $12.90
Another small 6-bar bag of luxury KitKats brings us dark chocolate with cranberries and almonds. The cranberries are a little tart like the yogurt ones above but are smoothed out by the dark chocolate. The almonds bring some nuttiness to the mix for a really yummy luxury KitKat.
Luxury Matcha Green Tea Raspberry and Cranberry KitKat - Buy a full-size of similar for $7.99
This one was the hardest to find online and I could only link to something similar that included almonds. These have no nuts, but are made with matcha, raspberry, and cranberry for a really unique flavor! Matcha is my favorite type of KitKat, so to add berries to it is pretty magical. The tart fruit is an interesting mix with the earthy and sometimes bitter matcha flavor and I really love it! Too bad there are only 6 little bars.
Verdict: This month's My Japan Box KitKat was probably one of the better ones I've received since they were all new flavors to me and didn't include any duplicates like it usually does. I did only get one full-size bag though, and the other three only had 6 single-bar KitKats. Even though they were luxury ones, it didn't offer much bang for my buck. If you don't live anywhere near an Asian market that stocks these Japan-only flavors, this might be a good idea, but since I am lucky to live near a handful, it's a better value for me to go there and choose the ones I want for a lot less money.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No. since boxes are mailed at the beginning of the month, it looks like you would receive August.
Value Breakdown: This box costs $29.00 + free shipping, so you're paying $7.25 per bag.
