Pearlesque Box July 2018 Review
This month's featured brand is Sahara Rose!
Sahara Rose was inspired by beauty rituals from two places; the first is my dear grandmother – Rahma— a truly remarkable graceful woman. She played a significant role in teaching me about the art of beauty and self care, the ancient secret concoctions, and the importance of using only the most precious ingredients, picked freshly from the source. She also taught me the importance to gracefully pause for sacred rituals to celebrate your True beauty. Self love is being and loving yourself simply, Self care is taking care of yourself, and self respect is knowing your self worth, while generously sharing and giving back with sincerity and gratitude.
The second inspiration was my Moroccan heritage and the bounty of the Sahara Desert. From fresh pressed oils, to exotic clays and aromatic scents of saffron, rose, and orange blossom. The abundance of natural ingredients in the environment I grew up in had a huge effect on the products I would go on to create.
The other side lists the four products included, how to use them, and the retail price. They also include several #pearltips.
Let's see what we got!
Sahara Rose Luminous Clarifying Cleanser, 3.4 oz. - Retail Value $48.00
I would have sworn to you that this had lemongrass in it because I was immediately obsessed with the scent. It doesn't, but it has cactus blossom and rose in it, among others, which maybe is why it smells so wonderful. At first, I was a little let down by the consistency of this cleanser, as it's a thin milky liquid that you pump out. After a few uses, I've gotten used to it a bit and have chalked it up to just being used to my foaming cleanser. This one doesn't foam at all but leaves me feeling clean without feeling dried out. I'm excited to start using this one full time since my foam is about to run out. This full-size bottle says it's roughly a 3 month supply which is amazing. It also happens to be made in the USA and uses ethically sourced ingredients which is really important to think about these days.
Sahara Rose Organic Moroccan Rose Water Toner, 3.4 oz. - Retail Value $27.00
Yessss- bathe me in rose water! I was just blathering on in another review about how many rose water items are swirling around sub boxes lately, but I am not complaining. This Moroccan rose water is organic as well and comes straight from the Oasis Valleys. The antioxidants in rose water battle signs of aging in the skin by tightening pores and can help regenerate skin tissue. This can be used as a toner after cleansing or to refresh your skin at any time of day. What I didn't realize is that it can also be mixed with clay powder for a face mask. Eeeek! Guess what the next product is??
Sahara Rose Facial Resplendent Detoxifying Mask, 1.7 oz. - Retail Value $48.00
Oh, my sweet heavens. Ok, so this is kind of two products in one. It's made with "an exotic lava, mineral-rich clay, finely-milled with luxurious, antioxidants packed, dried cactus pads, rose petals and essential oils to gently polish, detoxify and clarify the skin" so it's like a super duper nice smelling exfoliant once you mix the powder with water or ROSEWATER (omg) which you slather on and rinse. OR if you have oily skin (ahem), you can leave it on for a few minutes until it dries, then wipe off with a damp cloth like you would a mask. I, of course, mixed equal parts of this and rose water up in a wee dish and was instantly transported to some magical beautiful smelling place that was NOT Pittsburgh, PA. My skin feels so lovely and smells even better and this is my new favorite thing, thanks.
Verdict: Pearlesque Box blew my mind this month with three super-luxe Sahara Rose products that I instantly fell for. The cleanser came at a great time and the mask/exfoliant opened my eyes to using rose water instead of stupid old regular water for facials. What a fool I've been! Everything that came was full size and should last me until I save up for another batch! In love with these products and they have a total of $123.00 retail!
