Now onto the goodies!
Love Grown: Lion Loops Kids Cereal Cup, 1.1oz - Retail Value $2.89 (found here for $2.49)
Love Grown: Comet Crispies Kids Cereal Cup, 1.1oz - Buy a 9.5 oz. box for $5.89 (found here for $4.14)
The two flavors featured in this box are Comet Crispies and Lion Loops, both of which are made almost entirely out of beans and are gluten-free. Each cup contains seven grams of sugar, which is pretty good for a sweet cereal geared towards kids. The Lion Loops are crunchy O’s with an overpowering cinnamon flavor, and the Comet Crispies transformed my milk into a faint chocolate milk. Overall, I enjoyed both flavors and liked the convenient packaging of the recyclable cups.
RXBAR: Peanut Butter Protein Bar, 1.83oz - Buy a box of 12 for $25.99
If you’re looking for a portable, filling breakfast, look no further! With 12 grams of protein and 210 calories, this bar kept my belly full until lunchtime. I can appreciate when companies like RXBAR keep ingredients simple; this bar only contains 3 egg whites, 14 peanuts, and 2 dates--impressive! I’ve tried different flavors of these bars in the past and wasn’t too impressed, but I really like this wholesome peanut butter flavor.
North Coast Organic: Organic Apple Sauce Pouch 3.2oz - Buy a pack of 4 for $7.61
This applesauce was pretty tasty, and eating it right out of this little squeezy pouch made it notably more fun. It does not contain added sugar or preservatives, and I really did not miss either of them! They make a cinnamon flavor, too, but I am happy they sent the plain version so my dog, Murray, could help me enjoy it. He was a huge fan of the packaging, too. Pictured below: he is outright sauced.
SunButter: Sunflower Butter On-The-Go Single Cups, 1.1oz - Buy a pack of 6 for $6.29
Spreading this Sunbutter was so much easier than trying to spread my refrigerated organic peanut butter! It had a creamy yet sticky texture and was a little thicker than I predicted. I ate one serving on a piece of toast and spooned the other right out of its handy little cup. SunButter is such a great alternative to nut butter, especially if you’re someone with nut allergies. This delicious spread is also gluten and wheat free.
Nature’s Bandits: Mango Apple Fruit Stix, 1oz - Retail $1.29
The packaging on this snack is adorable and fitting for the brand. Even though this is another snack geared toward children, I truly love everything about it. When you first put the fruit stix in your mouth, you immediately taste a jolt of tart mango, and although I caught myself puckering my face a few times, it was a very satisfying treat. I could see why they advertise this as a snack for kids because I know a few that would just love it!
KARMA NUTS: Peri Peri Roasted Cashews, 1.5oz - Buy a 8oz jar for $10.99
As a huge fan of cashews and heat, Peri Peri Roasted Cashews were a big hit for me. The red chili spice hits your tongue on contact and really doesn’t subside. KARMA NUTS’ Cashews are unique because they are air roasted, which leaves them less processed than most of the nuts you’d find at the grocery store. According to their website, this is what makes them more nutritional and flavorful, too. The punch of flavor these cashews left behind makes me desperate to try each of the other flavors available (especially Lime Twist and Coconut Crunch).
Wholesome: Organic DelishFish .7oz - Buy 2oz bag for $2.09 (found here for $1.90)
I am so loyal to the original Swedish Fish, that I cannot be an impartial judge to these seemingly healthy ones. Honestly though, the only similarity between the two is the shape. I was perusing the packaging when I noticed that this tiny packet of three gummies is 70 calories. 70 calories! I am shook. I cannot allow myself to enjoy these delicious raspberry gummies too much for fear of overindulging and/or feeling like I am cheating on my OG love, Swedish Fish.
The Cookie Department: Snap Back Spiced Ginger Cookie, 3oz - Buy 12 pack for $34.95
Just look at that GIANT cookie! I am so weak for soft, crumbling cookies, and this behemoth did not disappoint. It is so refreshing that they sent out a spiced ginger cookie instead of your average chocolate chip or raisin cookie, too. My love for cookies usually does not extend to any store bought or prepackaged cookie (sorry Girl Scouts of America!), but this one just stole my heart. I am willing to make an exception in The Cookie Department’s case because of their all natural ingredients and homemade feel.
Verb Energy Co.: Maple Blueberry Energy Bite .78oz - Retail Value $1.50
The packaging won me over immediately, and the bar inside lived up to its sheath. As soon as I slid the bar out of its wrapper, the maple scent hit me, making my mouth water. Thankfully, the blueberries added a little more depth to the syrupy taste and did not distract from it. This bar houses 65mg of caffeine from green tea, perfect for that afternoon slump. With only 90 calories a bar and 5 grams of sugar, this would also be a perfect snack to keep in your purse to enjoy on a commute or between errands.
Popchips: Buffalo Ranch Ridges, .7oz - Retail Value $1.49
Popchips: Cheddar & Sour Cream Ridges, .8oz - Retail Value $1.49
When I first saw these, I thought they were chips made from popcorn, but they are actually made from potatoes. Unlike your everyday chip, the potato slices are heated in a pressurized chamber, then quickly released, making the potato pop into its chip form. This revolutionary snack has the crunch of a kettle chip, yet half the fat and calories-- win-win! I am always looking for salty snacks that leave me feeling less guilty, and these were so deliciously seasoned that it almost felt like the real deal. I enjoyed both flavors, but the Buffalo Ranch flavor was really spicy and so satisfying!
Jackson’s Honest: Coconut Oil Potato Chips 1.2oz - Retail Value $1.09 (found here for $0.97)
One thing I hate about kettle chips is the oily aftertaste. I could sit and eat half a bag of them, but the aftermath is always a lingering oily taste in my mouth and a bellyache. Luckily for me, I’ve found that these chips, cooked in coconut oil, do not give me either! Another attribute to the almighty Coconut Oil! The crunch and salt factor that are essential to a good chip were both on par, and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole bag.
Verdict: This is my first SnackSack box, and it was the best food box I’ve tried, yet! I love that a lot of the items are organic and GMO-free, and most of them have ten or fewer ingredients. I eat, sleep and breathe trying new foods, and this box introduced me to so many new healthy favorites! The balance of sweet and savory in this box is unprecedented, and the heat of the Karma Cashews and Popchips really just tied the whole box together! 10/10 would SnackSack, again!
