Stitch Fix Kids July 2018 Review
In every Stitch Fix Kids box, they include a pre-paid shipping envelope for returns and information sheets.
Here's the item list of the clothing they selected for my son, and their individual prices. The items total $202, but with my $20 styling fee applied, and the keep-everything 25% off discount, the total adds up to be only $131.50. (Since I already paid the $20 styling fee, that makes a total discount of $50 off for me.)
I think Stitch Fix's branding and design for their Kids styling service is fantastic!
I thought it was cute that the information sheet had a maze on it for your kid, plus the inside flaps of the shipping box have some activities and ideas for how to play with the box, too!
The reverse of that card shows photos of each item (which I love because it makes it easy to reference the pricing sheet!).
Capelli New York Oliver Monster Face Slip Ons - Cost to Keep: $18
I love these shoes! The design is cute, and the black and grey will go with a lot of Gideon's wardrobe. Unfortunately, these JUST fit his feet, with no socks. These are a size 8, and I think he'll need a 9 at least. Fortunately, Stitch Fix makes exchanges simple with an "exchange option" button at online checkout!
Batman Bruce Short Sleeve Graphic Tee, 3T - Cost to Keep: $14
This tee is SO soft. The Batman comic graphic is perfect for Gideon since we love superheroes at our house. I could tell he really liked wearing it and he told me it was "comfy." I will say, though, it is the thinnest material of all the tees in the box.
Hollywood the Jean People Gavin Graphic Tee, 3T - Cost to Keep: $14
This tee features a monster listening to headphones. The horns are flappy on the front of the shirt, and the mouth is a zipper you can open to show his tongue! I think it's quirky and silly, just like Gideon. And hey, it's good practice for Gideon to figure out zippers. It was like he had his own game of zipping and unzipping his mouth right there.
Hudson Aiden Knit Short, 3T - Cost to Keep: $20
These shorts are really well constructed. They have a raw edge hem, a functional drawstring, and real pockets at the hips and on the back. Gideon said these were "so soft!" as he slipped them on. This color grey is perfect to go with so much of his clothing already. (He's wearing these in the picture below)
Hanna Andersson Jaxon Knit Pocket Tee, Navy, 3T - Cost to Keep: $16
This tee is totally our style. In fact, Gideon has a navy and red striped tee already! It's a nice-weight knit and fits him really well.
Hanna Andersson Jaxon Knit Pocket Tee, Yellow, 3T - Cost to Keep: $16
This is the same tee as the navy/red tee above in a different colorway. I thought this was appropriate because we now live not far from the University of Michigan, whose colors are "Blue and Maize."
Walnut & 39th Ryder SS Graphic Tee, 3T - Cost to Keep: $12
This shirt is made of a soft fabric and the robot blueprint design is glow-in-the-dark. I liked this shirt the least out of the ones they sent, just because it seemed a little cheaper, and the fit wasn't as perfect on Gideon as the others,
Hanna Andersson Clay Applique Ls Tee, 3T - Cost to Keep: $28
This is a great shirt, and it's also the most expensive, probably from the high quality and longer sleeves. The airplane design is made from stitched-on appliques. The fit is also spot-on, with an inch or two to spare so this would even work through the Fall, I'd expect when long sleeves are more weather-appropriate.
Hanna Andersson Basic Knit Jogger, 3T - Cost to Keep: $24
These jogger pants are great! I love joggers on Gideon, and he likes being in "comfy pants." The fit is perfect (can you tell I'm generally really pleased with the fit of this whole box for him??), and would allow for an inch or two of growth.
Hanna Andersson Benny Sleeping Onesie, 3T - Cost to Keep: $40
What a cute sleeper! I made a comment in his style profile that we love all things science and space over here so this set is perfect. It's really, really soft, too. And it's footless, which makes it more forgiving for growth and gives him more wear time in them.
The Verdict: I’m really happy with our first Stitch Fix Kids box! Their selection seems high-quality and their choices for Gideon were spot on with our style! Everything fit really well, too. Even the bottoms which can be a little hit or miss in 3T for Gideon because he's tall, but relatively slim so sometimes the waists of 3T bottoms are a bit loose. As far as prices go, I think they seem reasonable. Some items are a little high, but I find the quality to be as good or better for most of these items as Gap clothes, whose short sleeve tees are between $17-20, so that makes sense to me. I do like that there are so many items sent, so even if you just want to pick one item so you don't lose out on your styling fee, it's not hard to find at least one item to love!
