Tell Us What Subscription Box To Review Next!

Liz Cadman

Every week we pick out new boxes to review (based on reader requests, reviewer requests, and companies that reach out to ask for a review.) And we thought it was time to do a post asking for requests!

What subscription boxes would you like us to review next? Is there a specific box you want to see? A category of subscription boxes you'd like us to review more? Or a box we're already reviewing that you'd like an additional perspective on? (For example, a different take on StitchFix, etc.)

It’s not technically a subscription, but I would love to see Allume reviewed. It’s ‘kind of’ like Stitch fix but not. You pay for a ‘styling session’ where they connect you with a personal shopper and you say what you are looking for (style, budget, needs, pinterest boards, etc.) The personal shopper then puts together a ‘lookbook’ for you of pieces. (This has a $20 fee much like the ‘styling fee’ in some subs – it’s refundable out of your purchases.) Then, you pick what pieces (if any) of those you want to buy and get an invoice for them.

So it’s sort of like Stitch Fix but without the mystery aspect, but it doesn’t start a subscription. You can get a new styling session whenever, though, so you could theoretically do it once a month and make it into a sub-type program.

I’d like to see more reviews on craft subscriptions like Quilty Box. If you don’t have anyone on staff that could review these, I’d volunteer!

I’d love to see barbella box. I got a couple and loved one and hated the other. I’d sub and just cancel the ones I don’t like it o knew what was coming.

I’d like to see more boxes geared toward plus size women & men. Men in particular don’t seem to have much in the way of plus size boxes. How about The Winston Box, or The Maximus Box?

And I love seeing the cat and dog toy/treat boxes. Some have options for bunnies/hamsters/other small animals too, how about a review of one of those to see what the little fellas get in a box?

I know I’m a late starter in the meal delivery service but I just tried my first boxes about 6 months ago. So far I’ve tried 3. They all have been good. My issue is, I don’t really want to LEARN to cook, I just want to get a healthy dinner on the table quickly with the least amount of steps/prep. I would love to find meal services that are quick prep and healthy!

There is a beauty box on cratejoy called “Sparkle and Shine Box” and I would love to see a review on this. It’s $20 and says they ship 5-7 items. It’s supposed to be all about self love, confidence and joy.

The Vanishing Cabinet from Notoriously Morbid!

Jennifer

I got Vanishing Cabinet for three months and really liked their eyeshadows – ended up unsubscribing just because loose powder shadows and dramatic looks don’t fit into my lifestyle as a stay at home mom. But for those that can find an excuse (and time) to wear them it was definitely a good value for the price.

And I could REALLY use an underwear subscription with panties that are mostly cotton instead of synthetic fabrics.

Whatever happened with Heima box?

Also I feel like there is an empty niche for more used items for those of us who don’t mind buying second hand and who like to incorporate ideas of re-use into our lives. I know MSA reviews some second hand clothing boxes, but if there are others I would love to see them. And why haven’t I seen any used book an subscriptions?!?! I know there is the fanger of getting a boom that you’ve already read but I feel like there could be a built-in way around that, like you get a credit if that happens or you can choose a book out of a few options. I hate to buy new books, seems like such a waste of paper when there are so many used ones out there that need a new home!

Totally forgot about Heima Box! I just looked them up & it appears that they’ve redone their site & sub model. Haven’t gotten too far into it yet, but it looks like they have some great new options!

I second this! I dont mind used items. I like shopping from Thred Up and I think they have surprise boxes you can buy. Not really a subscription but Id still love to see one of those unboxed.

I reviewed one of the ThredUp Goody Boxes (“office styles”) and it was a huge miss for me (so much that I won’t be doing it again). Some of the other reviewers maybe had a bit more luck with the other themes. But they’re available on the site if you go looking.
