The Bookish Box is a book-inspired subscription box from Appraising Pages, which is now called The Bookish Shop. This month is the first time I've gotten the box in a shipping envelope rather than a literal box. It's super cute!

bookish box unboxing

Originally, The Bookish Box was a subscription box filled with bookish objects only—no actual books involved. Recently, though, they changed up their game and added several subscription varieties to choose from, including one that does have a book inside!

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

This review is of the Bookish Shirt & Goodies Box, which is $29.99 a month + shipping.

The Bookish Box Subscription Box "Summer Magic" June 2018 Review

bookish box info card

bookish box product list

Here's the info card for this month's box. Note that they list out every item that you could get with the subscription (including add-ons). In my subscription box, I got everything in the top section plus the shirt.

bookish box calendar card

Calendar Card

In January, I got a little "Calendar Kit" including an easel and just two calendar cards (for January and February). With each month's package, I get a card for the upcoming month. So this June box came with a July card. The forest motif is really pretty. It's peaceful to look at while I'm sitting at my desk, haha!

bookish box the trees speak latin pin

bookish box enamel pin

Dust & Pages Enamel Pin Inspired by Raven Boys - Retail Value $10.00

This sparkling pin is about 1.5" tall and features a gorgeous bronze setting. I haven't read this series yet, but I'm down with anything that involves glitter!

bookish box wood art

bookish box rattle wood art

bookish box wood stand

bookish box desk art

Throne of Glass Pin Board by Hello World Paper Co. - Retail Value $15.00

I think this little wooden item is so clever! It's about the size of a postcard and has stars punched through it. The idea is that you can use this stand-up board to hold your enamel pin collection!

bookish box rainbow stickers

bookish box window clings

bookish box suncatcher gems

Rainbow Symphony Sun Catchers, Set of 10 – Buy 12 for $14.95 here

I got these gem-shaped window clings in a Goddess Provisions box this spring! They are basically my FAVORITE thing ever! The rainbows they cast around the room make my apartment feel magical and super special. I might give some of these away to rainbow-loving friends 🙂

Here's a photo of what it looks like when these stickers cast their magic!

bookish box black cat ring

bookish box cat ring

bookish box phone cat ring

bookish box ring for back of phone

Black Cat Magic Phone Ring

I couldn't find this ring on the Bookish Shop site. It's got an adhesive spot on the back that makes for a sturdy seal. The idea of this ring is that it makes holding onto your phone WAY easier. I feel like I'm always clumsy about my phone, so having this cat-shaped ring on the back of it is helpful!

bookish box crystal notes

Gemstone Sticky Notepad

These sticky notes are so pretty! They're about 3" long and have a sticky backing at the top. I love the watercolor-like effect of the illustration, too. I almost don't want to write anything on top of these papers. I might just use them in crafts/adding some panache to my office pinboard.

bookish box coloring card

Each month of this subscription comes with a black and white "doodle" that's one part art print and another part coloring book page! It's postcard-sized and cute to keep in my coloring book stash.

bookish box tshirt

"Don't Let the Muggles Get You Down" Tee - Retail Value $22.00

This 100% pre-shrunk cotton tee is a fun find for Harry Potter fans! I like the cut—it has a little bit more of a fitted cut than a unisex tee, but it's not quite so itty bitty as a babydoll tee might be.

The Verdict: I think this subscription is great for younger YA fans, given the quality and the playful vibe of the gifts you get. I could totally see getting this box as a gift for a young reader I know. I like that they make clever nods to popular series, though I will say I see a lot of series recurring in the box (including Harry Potter and Throne of Glass).

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No. Sign up now to get the upcoming box available!

Value Breakdown: This box costs $37.49 after shipping. The items I could find values for add up to $47.00. Another way to look at it is that the average price of each item via the subscription is $4.69.

I think the pin board would look really cool if you were able to put some battery operated lights in each star. Just a thought!

Ooo…I really like this box. I wish they would change up the font on their t-shirts. Not a fan of it. When I get this box, I usually skip the shirt even though it’s so soft.
