YumeTwins July 2018 Review
You’ll receive a booklet with information on each item, contests, and kawaii culture – and don’t worry, this information is also available online! The theme for the month is “Brunch Date,” a really cute idea that hopefully translates strongly to all the items!
Rilakkuma Coaster
The first item in the box is this cute coaster! This chill li’l guy looks so blissed out, and this cork is actually pretty soft and seemed to absorb moisture pretty well. I’m pretty much hip-deep in iced coffee season right now, so I think this will be a great addition to my workspace to keep my desk clean!
Kawaii Food Container and Hand Towel Set
This actually takes up most of the room in the box this month, and I was intrigued by its interior contents! This is the most perfect lunch set. I am always, always, always in need of food containers to take on the go, store leftovers, etc, so I was REALLY happy to see these! They’re a really good size for brunch (or lunch!), and I loved that the paperwork mentioned their ability to be microwaved. I received the adorable Totoro version, and can’t wait to use it.
Pet Lunch Cloth
I love the idea of setting down a cloth before having a meal - it’s like making anything into an impromptu picnic! This pattern is so eye-catching, and I love that at first you can’t necessarily tell it’s covered in cats...but I love that it’s covered in cats. This frisky calico is giving some major sass, and I like the way it integrates with the blue-and-cream checked background.
Studio Ghibli Chopsticks
I looooove chopsticks, and I can’t believe this is my first set I’ve received in any box! Truly, there is nothing I won’t eat with chopsticks - and I’ve been known to use them when I’m too lazy to clean a fork. The pair I received features the dragon from Spirited Away, a river spirit that also appears in the movie as a human boy. Like most chopsticks I own, these are fairly delicate and are hand-wash only.
Angel Panda Kawaii Plushie
I love these little angel charms, and I was so excited to see that they come in my favorite animal - the panda! Intended to be your companion, should you not have a “brunch date,” I received the red panda carrying the howlite stone, which is naturally white but can be dyed to mimic turquoise in color. SO CUTE! Howlite is supposed to alleviate stress and relieve muscle tension, so come on, little buddy, help a lady out!
Gudetama Washi Tape
I’m not sure if it could be used during brunch, but I’m going to give this a pass on the theme because eggs are one of my favorite brunch treats! It’s hard to believe this character has only been around since 2013 - I have the utmost respect for Gudetama’s commitment to constant relaxation. I’m not sure this would be much of a use at the actual meal table, but this super-cute washi tape would be a really easy way to label your food in a shared fridge either at work or with roommates.
Verdict: This was such a clever theme and I loved the items they chose to uphold it! My favorite items are ones that I can use regularly for a smile throughout the day, and the food containers, lunch cloth, chopsticks, and coaster all certainly fit that bill! I do think a lot of thought went into the theme and the items, and these items will immediately go into circulation in my home.
