Our Review

Blume sent some info regarding their products and mission statement. Blume is dedicated to providing sustainable, safe, quality period products.

Regular Organic Pads 16 Count

Regular Organic Pads 16 Count—Retail Value $11

When I did my initial review for Blume (then known as Ellebox), they sent me tampons. I rarely use tampons, excluding for swimming, since they create a lot of discomfort for me. I am a pad gal, so I was glad to see pads instead this time around. Unfortunately, I can’t give you the full rundown on these pads since my box arrived after my period ended. Simply looking at the pads, they are a thinner variety. I sense I would use these on my lighter days like the beginning or end of my period. Also, keep in mind that I usually use overnight pads due to my flow and for coverage since I am a plus size woman. I definitely look forward to using these for Aunt Flo’s next visit because I love having a safer, organic option to try than my normal go-to pads!

Here are the items I received in the $38 Self Care Bundle:

Day Dreamer Super Gentle Face Wash, 4 fl oz. —Retail Value $14

This face wash has calming elements like chamomile and lavender in it, so I was excited to give it a whirl since my post-vacation skin had gone bonkers. The soap is rather creamy and feels more like a lotion than a soap. It is good for taking off makeup due to the creamy, slightly texture and isn’t astringent whatsoever. I also like the pump bottle the product comes in; it makes it rather user-friendly if your hands are already wet.

Hug Me Deodorant

Hug Me Deodorant, 2.5 oz. — Retail Value $12

This may be my favorite item in this Blume box! I am forever on the hunt for an effective aluminum free deodorant and this one is one of the best I have tried. It doesn’t have much of a fragrance, but I am fine with that since it is so effective! I am impressed with how well this deodorant has worked in our grossly hot and humid weather. I even forgot to apply it one day and I still smelled fresh as a daisy! The key ingredient is the coconut oil that kills the bacteria that creates that funky BO smell we all hate. Pro tip: due to this deodorant’s powdery texture, it can work well as a chub rub stick in a pinch!

Meltdown Blemish Treatment, 0.5 oz. — Retail Value $26

I had just come back from vacation and had my period, so my skin was in a state of utter chaos! I was especially excited to try this treatment to see if it would ease my acne ridden chin and skin I had from my out of whack hormones. The product claims to calm pimples overnight, but sadly I didn’t see much of a difference the next day. I had a cluster of zits on my chin, but it took a few days before I saw any improvement. I do love the scent of this product, though. It has such an earthy, robust smell; not chemically at all!

Here's what I received in the $14 PMS Bundle Add-on:

Cloud 9 PMS Oil—

Cloud 9 PMS Oil — Retail Value $18

This roll-on oil claims to ease period cramps and provide relaxation. My period had come and gone by the time my Blume box came in, but I am eager to try this when Aunt Flo is wreaking havoc on my body in a few weeks! I can say that I love the scent of this oil. It has notes of Bergamot, Lemon, and Peppermint. It is relaxing and rejuvenating to roll on now, so I am excited to see it battle my nasty cramps!

Verdict: Let’s face it: periods can be a total drag! Receiving a box like this full of fancy self-care items, though, can bring some happiness and comfort during an exhaustingly draining five days. I love the new aesthetic and products of Blume box that have risen from the ashes of Ellebox. Plus, I assume its name is derivative of Judy Blume’s, the author of Are You There, God? It’s me, Margaret, which is a classic novel about the title character grappling young adulthood. If so, that gives it bonus points for me. The products are great, though, especially the Hug Me deodorant and Daydreamer face wash! I am excited to see if Blume will offer even more options as time goes on, but so far so good!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes, you can! All items are available for purchase on the Blume site!

Value Breakdown: Base box costs $10.99. With the $38 Self Care and $15 PMS bundle add-ons this box comes to $63.99 value. This box is customizable, so prices will vary! If I had purchased the items individually a la carte these items in this box would be $81, so that is a $17 savings if you add on bundles to the base box I received! That is like getting the Daydreamer Face Wash or Hug Me Deodorant for free!

I cancelled my Blume subscription (I only bought pads- regular & light so not sure about their other proudcts) because they’re basically just repackaging natracare which is another organic natural fem hygiene brand and marking up the price.

I found this out because it literally says ‘natracare’ all over the paper you peel off from the pad for the sticky part. Not sure what’s going on here.

Anyone else look at this and think “I must I must I must increase my bust.”? I’m sure I’m not the only one who read the books growing up.

I actually just read those again when I was moving and that’s what I thought I’ve when I saw the boob stuff in the Look Fantastic spoilers too.

I want to order this just for the toxic ingredients and vaginas don’t mix bag. I do wish that the time of month boxes would let you have it shipped the week prior to your cycle. I guess you could always leave the box unopened until your cycle.
