Bookroo is a subscription service that sends books for children every month. They have a board book plan (for ages 0-2.5), a picture book plan (for ages 2.5-6) and a chapter book plan (for ages 7-10). They offer the option to alternate between picture and board books each month which is great if you have children in different age groups like I do.
Bookroo sends the books individually wrapped each month. I love the beautiful tropical paper this month!

Bookroo August 2018 Review
Bookroo always includes an insert that gives a brief description of each book and also includes a link for some extension activities. This month they had some helpful suggestions for getting kids ready to attend school for the first time.
Not This Bear: A First Day of School Story by Alyssa Satin Capucilli - Retail Value $16.99 (found on sale here for $15.00)
This is a story about a little bear who is not very excited to begin school. He would much rather stay at home with Mama. At first, Bear really doesn't want to go and is very stubborn, not wanting to participate or even attempt to enjoy the activities. Soon, his patient teacher, Mr.Brown, helps him realize all of the fun things he gets to do at school such as painting, listening to stories and playing with his friends. This is a great book for those children who are just going to school for the first time and it came just in time as most schools are just starting up now. This cute story highlighted a lot of the fun parts of what happens at school and will help get children excited for that next step in their lives.
Lion's Lullaby by Mij Kelly- Retail Value $16.99 (found on sale here for $14.44)
This was a perfect book for my children who love to snuggle with their stuffed animals at bedtime. The story leads the child through various animals that they have to get prepared for bed, whether it's quieting them down or singing them a lullaby. I always love a good rhyming story for bedtime, so we enjoyed this one! I also really loved the illustrations. They were so detailed and beautiful, and I love the use of negative space throughout. It was so interesting to look at!
Verdict: This month's Bookroo selections didn't necessarily blow me away, but they were very nice books. I think the bear book is a great one for all those kids who are just starting back at school or perhaps attending school for the first time. These books were new to us and came wrapped in such festive, beautiful paper, so it was still a great treat for us! The retail value of the books was $33.98 which is a pretty good value for a $24.95 box ($19.95 a month + $5 shipping).
