Cricket Crate August 2018 Review
Each month you will receive a Cricket Wonder magazine. This goes over what the main theme of the month is and how that ties back to the project. This month is all about "move with me!" I am going to be keeping this magazine for the indoor play section to have some fun ideas on rainy days and for the cold winter months ahead.
Next, I received this little information card that goes over everything in the box and how each activity works.
Scorekeeper Training Set
This set comes with number cards, a clear cardholder, and a crayon! All you have to do is slide the number card into the holder, and your little one can use the crayon to trace the number. They can also practice counting by using the dots at the bottom of the card. The best part is that the clear cardholder wipes off easily so you can use this over and over again! My son loves to trace numbers and letters on his Sesame Street iPad games, but I am excited to give this a try using a crayon in hand. What a great way to start getting them excited to write!
Move Your Body Activity Set
This activity set comes with a play strap, bean bags, and activity cards. The play strap can velcro into a circle, or come apart at each new color so you can use it in so many ways to play a new game. The activity cards feature a new game on each that you can incorporate the bean bags and play strap. You can even make a game up on your own if you want! This is a great activity to get your little one up and moving around, plus you can use it inside or outside.
Fox played with this set for so long and keeps asking to play with it days after opening the box! His favorite way to play is to toss the bean bags into the circle. After each time we will move him back further or change the placement of the circle. If he makes them both in, he does a little victory dance! He also really loved using the play strap flat on the ground as a sort of balance beam to walk across, or you can even use it as a little hopscotch area and toss the bean bags over it. This was endless fun!
Olive's Jumping Problem - Listed Value $6.95
This month's board book features Olive instead of Cricket. Olive loves to hop, but when it comes to jumping rope she just can't seem to get it right. This book takes us through her journey to master jumping rope! Always a fun reminder for little ones that not everything comes naturally, we have to keep practicing!
Verdict: I loved this month's Cricket Crate! My focus most days are on keeping Fox active and moving around to burn some of his endless energy, while also having parts of the day focused on learning. This box offered me both of those things! I love that it came with the number set so we can work on our numbers and writing at the same time. Plus, the activity set gets him up and moving while thinking about creative ways to play with the set. While this box can be tricky to put a value on, it really is subjective to what works for your little one, I always find the boxes to be perfectly curated for my son. Plus, at $19.95, I am getting two activities that are already planned for me, a book, and a monthly magazine that I usually end up keeping to read through again for new and fun ideas!
