Fair Trade Friday is an organization that helps to empower women and battle poverty through dignified, sustainable industry (craftsmanship). They have three subscriptions to choose from that send fairly traded items from around the world: The Original Box, Bracelet of the Month, and Earrings of the Month. I have subscribed to the Earring of the Month box for years now, and I am really excited to have this opportunity to review the Original Box!

This review is of the $32.99 a month Fair Trade Friday Original Box.

Global Prayer Bracelet by Mayan Families, Guatemala - Retail Value $8

Look at this cute little bracelet! I am getting a little burned out on threaded tassels, but I shared this with my teenage cousin and she just loved it. It was created by Mayan artisans via Mercy House Global, FTF's parent organization. The eight tassels correlate to eight regions of Earth and eight powerful words of prayer: Freedom, Justice, Faith, Endurance, Empowerment, Hope, Compassion, and Peace.

Hand Towel by Caring for Korah, Ethiopia - Retail Value $22

This cotton hand towel is another Fair Trade Friday exclusive! It is really well made and has a wonderful texture, perfect for drying one's hands. But it's so pretty I almost hate to use it! This was handmade in Ethiopia by women who are working to free themselves and their families from poverty.

Framed Quote by Village Artisan, India - Retail Value $26

The link above is to Village Artisan's hand-carved wood collection. This particular framed quote is not for sale there, but I think the price provided by FTF is in line with the items shown here. So, I am not really a fan of displaying words in my home, but I am super excited about the frame. It is so pretty and well crafted! I have received items from Village Artisan before, and they tend to be both lovely and functional. The charity itself is dedicated to empowering women and providing them with dignified work.

The Verdict: I am loving my subscription to Fair Trade Friday Original Box! I especially loved the beautiful wooden frame this month! I also like all the information they provide to show how your subscription directly impacts the lives of others. It makes the subscription seem that much more special.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No. In order to receive the box of the month, you must subscribe before the 24th of the previous month.

Value Breakdown:

Value Breakdown: This box cost $33 shipped. It included three items, so the average cost per item is $11. The total suggested retail for the items is $56, which means the savings on this box is 42%!

Even hand towels have tassels, I am too tired of the tassel. I’m so happy that Pearls and colored gems are the new thing this fall. Done with tassels.

I love the scarves on the Artisan Village webpage, especially the ‘external beaded’ scarves with the pretty knotwork!

It should be “every day.” Two words.

Maybe they mean everyday as an adjective, as in ‘ordinary’? Like celebrate the little things? Either way it’s a photo frame, so what’s in it can be swapped out.

Everyday vs. Every day. Everyday is an adjective we use to describe something that’s seen or used every day. It means “ordinary” or “typical.” Every day is a phrase that simply means “each day.”
It is definitely used incorrectly in the frame.
