Regardless if this is a new obsession or a hobby that has been shared across generations, this subscription box just might add a bit of magical whimsy to your mail.

Fairy Garden Chest offers several single-item and box size subscriptions options.

This review is of the Medium Box, which is $27.95 a month plus shipping.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Fairy Garden Chest July 2018 Review

This month’s box included 6 total items – 1 large focal house and 5 smaller seasonal items:

On the top of the opened box, there was an insert that simply said that this was the fairy garden chest. The card is blank on the back, and no packing slip was enclosed.

Miniature LED Tiki Hut (Item #55877) - Retail Value $29.99 (found here for $14.99)

I am so excited to add another house to my collection! There’s a popular bar in my neck of the woods with a Tiki Theme – and now, my fairies can experience the same. This resin house measures 7” L x 4.5” W x 6.3” H and requires 3 AAA batteries (not included) to light up!

There are adorable touches – like a "welcome" sign hanging over the door, straw roof & open windows, a wooden deck for your fairies to enjoy, and even a few swimsuits hanging and a beach bag sitting by the door!

Surf Board by Touch of Nature

This free-standing, resin surfboard features a blue zig-zag stripped pattern is around 2” H and 0.5” wide. There’s a tiny shell sitting next to the base – perfect to sit right in front of my new tiki hut!

Set of Chairs by Touch of Nature

Set of Chairs by Touch of Nature

These chairs have a rusted, faux beachwear look to them and are made of metal. Each one is about 2" H x 1.5" W x 3" D.

Buoy Decoration by Touch of Nature

This buoy is wearing a sun hat and stands at around 3" H  x 2.5” W x 1.5” D. This piece feels sturdy and is made out of resin, with weatherproof paint. Scale-wise, it's probably too big to be used to rescue a fairy, but might make a good marker to the “beach town” where the tiki hut will live.

Beach Towel (or Rug?) by Touch of Nature

I believe this item to be a beach towel, but it could also work as an area rug in a tiny fairy house. It's pink and white striped, and measures around 2" L x 1 “ W and is relatively flat to the ground at about ¼” thick.

And here’s this month’s bounty all together!

And here are the new additions, with some of my old ones. I think the thing that I'm struggling with now is the merchandising aspect – how to make it seem like one cohesive theme. As you can see, my collection still remains in my backyard under some pine trees – definitely more of a “forest” scene than a beach scene!

I'm going to continue to think through the best approach to make it look pretty, and not like a random collection. Part of the struggle is getting the seasonal items – and making them work together. I kind of wish I had more staple pieces, and more fairies! In fact, I wouldn’t mind getting a whole box of fairies some time!

If you’ve been reading my Fairy Garden Chest reviews for this box since the beginning, you know that my son loves to play with my fairy garden! Here’s a photo of him helping me get our new pieces situated – and that’s Fred, our corgi supervising!

The Verdict: This remains one of my favorite subscriptions to get - because it is just so different from the others. I liked the selection of products, although I would have liked to add another fairy to my collection! If this was your first box, you might have been disappointed to get these items and no fairy to enjoy them! I personally feel they should include a fairy every month, but others may not agree.

I do think that the value in this box is both in the products, but also in the novelty of such a fun hobby to have delivered at your door monthly.

The Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Their billing cycle renews on the 15th of the month and the boxes ship after that. If you sign up today, I believe that your first box will most likely be the September box.

Value Breakdown: This box costs $27.95 + $8.32 shipping, which means that each of the 6 items in the box has an average cost of $6.05When comparing these pieces to other small fairy items, that seems like a fair price – and I know that the Tiki Hut alone is at least 2-3 times that much retail.

I got a a cute fairy and the life preserver. The items were good quality just very random. The fairy was traditional forest/valley. The other is beach theme. I was was not impressed with both shipping and customer service. This was my first and last box.

Neat, but the surfboard is way too small.

I don’t understand why only 1 of my 2 comments posted? The first comment I “posted ” which is not showing up was respectfully stating how terrible this subscription was since they charged me for 2 months before I canceled and I have yet to recieve a single item. Yet the second comment about me loving the tiki hut posted.

Censorship that’s why

Exactly! I’ve noticed a lot of that lately. I said something negative about Sunday Rileys ingredients on another post, now none of my replies or comments are posting…Annoying.

Hey everyone! I’m the owner of Fairy Garden Chest and I just wanted to let you know that every new subscriber DOES receive a Fairy! 🙂 its a “bonus item” in every first box (every size), whether there is one in the monthly box or not. I am hearing how you would like fairies to arrive more often too and will definitely consider that when ordering future items! 🙂 Thanks so much for the great review!

I apologize to you guys MSA because I know you guys have nothing to do with the subscription except to give us your reviews (which I always love and I’m happy you guys enjoy this box). But I am so upset and frankly disgusted with this subscription box! I subscribed to the single item box back in June because my son and I have a fairy garden and I thought this would be a great monthly suprise for us to add to our garden monthly. They took my payment for June and then for July with me receiving zero items! I have reached out several times to them regarding this and they’ve emailed me back apologizing yet I have yet to see either a single piece or refund. I cancelled before they were able to take my August payment. I know it’s not much, but to have take my money for 2 months and not even receiving even one out of the 2 months is so disappointing. I’m a single mom on disability and I was really looking forward to a small monthly suprise for my son and I to share.

That really sucks

You should get a little fairy to ride on your Corgi. You know in welsh legends corgis are said to be fairy steeds.

Aren’t the homes and outdoor items supposed to bring the fairies to choose your place to live? They are empty because they function like bird houses. I am teasing, of course. But young children may like to imagine the fairies live there and fly away as soon as you sense you getting close. Or that they only reveal themselves to those who SEE. Like in Jo Walton’s book, “Among Others” which is fantastic, by the way. It is made for adults, but could be appropriate for ages 13 and up depending on maturity.

I really like this box! I am considering subscribing. I would be very disappointed, though, to be a new subscriber and not receive any fairies. If one was guaranteed with each box of this size, I’d say an instant Sign Me Up!

I don’t subscribe to this box but I do have a collection of fairies and garden items. Some pieces don’t work well together so I have set up several vignettes rather than trying to make one cohesive garden. I have an old birdbath I’m going to use for one.
