J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World Crate July 2018 Review - Magical Creatures

The 'Magical Creatures' box features items from both Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and Harry Potter.

The box inverts into a suitcase to store all of your fantastic beasts!

PLEASE NOTE: These were sent out without the t-shirt due to a manufacturing issue. They'll be shipping out once received according to this card.

Each month arrives with an information card that details the items in your box.

Nagini Horcrux Pin - $5-10

This is definitely one of the cooler Horcrux pins I've seen. Like Neville, you can put an end to Nagini with the attached sword!

Niffler Coin Bank - Value $15-20?

Since Nifflers love shiny objects, it only makes sense that it'll keep your coins protected!

It's a porcelain painted back that is around 6 inches tall.

Like any good bank, you need to get your money out - pop this open to retrieve those precious coins.

Fantastic Beasts Cookie Cutters - Value $15?

You'll get a set of 4 cookie cutters that represent animals from Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them.

They even have little handles to make things a little easier as you're cutting your cookies.

The designs are pretty fun, too - you'll get a Niffler, Erumpent, Swooping Evil, and the Bowtruckle seen here.

Sticky Notes - Value $5-10?

The final item is a set of sticky notes for around the house or marking book pages. It's a playful looking set with Hagrid as the centerpiece.

Verdict: I really like the Niffler bank - and seeing the shirt, I think I'll like it too when it arrives. This was delayed, but it they waited a bit and made the decision to send it out minus an item - so I'm guessing it might be a while before we get the shirts? Besides the coin bank, there wasn't another item that I really loved - it adds up to the cost you've paid with the shirt, but I can't say I was blown away during the unboxing.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No. This was an older theme – the current theme can be found on the landing page!

I’m pretty furious with Loot Crate.

Did you know that they no longer have a customer service chat option online?

They also have NO PHONE NUMBER.

Who does that? Oh, a company that doesn’t want to deal with the customers that they have wronged and pissed off.

Email after email with a customer service person to try to fix something…

And all he has done is REPEAT the same thing over & over! He also ignored my request to forward info to a supervisor.

Here’s the email correspondence:

“Thank you for your reply.

Because I was clearly charged for a “Wizarding World TWO MONTH subscription”, I had no reason to believe that I would be charged until my sub would renew after the next two boxes were sent- which wouldn’t be until at least the beginning of October.

And I would like to address the last part of your reply email which stated:
“ the free bonus crate that you will receive is a random one and is set to ship out by August. ”

I 100% do nor understand this. NOTHING in the emails or upon sign up for the promotion said ANYTHING about a “bonus box” – it said 40% off your first box and another free. Then upon signup it said “2 month subscription.”

Nothing about this says “random bonus box” – AT ALL.

I fully expect that you will take the necessary steps to ensure that this was NOT false advertising and that I DO RECEIVE my 2 month subscription that I paid for. If you don’t have authorization to make this happen, I am sure you’ll escalate the issue up to a supervisor who CAN.

I would really hate to have to report this to the BBB, especially with all of the other issues that Loot Crate already has currently.

Thanks for your time and assistance.”

THE LOOT CRATE REPLY:

“Hi there,

Thanks for the follow-up!

We apologize for the inconvenience and confusion that this has caused you. The 2-month subscription basically means a 1-crate plan which gets shipped out every 2 months. Also, as for the free bonus, it is definitely a bonus random box and not applied to your next renewal.

Kind regards,
Geber S.

This is just one of so many poor responses from Loot Crate that do NOT solve the problems that the company creates for customers.

I should have NEVER resubscribed. I just love Harry Potter SOOOO MUCH- I keep giving them second chances… Why? ☹️

They seemingly have NO ACCOUNTABILITY to their customers.

How is this possible???

Perhaps MSA should stop reviewing their boxes until they can provide quality and HONESTY to their customers.

I am going to report this (and other problems) to the BBB, but from what I’ve heard, that report won’t really help the situation.

Does anyone have any additional ideas or solutions?

Thanks in advance, all you awesome people! 😘

This is the first box shipped under the 40% off 1 box/Get 2nd free promo. Wonder if they’ve built the discount into the underwhelming value of the box.

(I don’t know why my previous comment on this box won’t post, but here’s the gist of it:)

Loot Crate is now saying that the 2nd box is a “bonus box” not another month’s box. Incredible.

Also, they have removed the chat feature for customer service from their website (and have no phone number.)

Hmm….

So pretty much, we are giving them our money and they have no accountability to their customers.

That’s a great pin, very unique. I LOVE the post-its, I hope I can snag them from the vault at some point.
