Lavish Bath Box August 2018 "Jungle Safari" Review

I received this information card that highlights each product that can be found in the box along with some coupon codes!

Rock & Oil Naturals Rattlesnake Shake Bath Bomb - Retail Value $5.50

The first animal I encountered during my trip to the jungle was this adorable green rattlesnake finished with gold shimmer. The best part, hands down, is that this actually rattles when you shake it! This turned my bath a lovely shade of green, and this had some fun bath art as well thanks to the streaks of blue that appeared as this dissolved. This scent is a combination of bamboo, mint, grapefruit, and lily, and combined the scent was invigorating with a touch of earthiness.

Lavish soak Lavish soak 2

Copper Cat Apothecary Jungle Lagoon Bubbling Bath Soak, 5 oz - Retail Value $10

I wasn't able to find this exact blend online, but it looks like the Etsy page has other bath soaks to purchase. This bath soak is scented with lemongrass, patchouli, jasmine, and sugar cane (along with a few others), and this has a really zesty earthy scent that I found to be really refreshing. This didn’t create a crazy amount of bubbles, but the Epsom and Himalayan salts helped to refresh my sore muscles. To top off the cuteness, inside the jar of this bath soak is a little leaf-shaped soap!

Peace Love Bath Mane-go Tango Bubble Bar - Estimated Value $6 (shop on vacation until 9/3)

The second animal I encountered on my jungle adventure was this lion bubble bar. According to my google research, lions don't actually live in the jungle, so The Lion King lied to me when I was a child. Luckily, this adventure is also part safari, and that is where lions really do live (I guess “in the safari the mighty safari” doesn’t have the same ring to it?). This bubbly lion is very majestic, and his mane is so fierce that a little bit of it actually got onto my dusting powder! This bubble bar has a light mango papaya scent, and it crumbled easily under water. You only need about a third of this bubble bar to get some decent bubbles, so me and my Lavish-exclusive lion friend will have two more baths to get to know each other!

Soothing Sloth Leaf Me Be Bath Bomb, 5 oz - Retail Value $6 (found on sale here for $5)

I first experienced the Sleeping Sloth brand in this month’s Bath Bevy box, and I was stoked to see them appear in this box! The scent was described as eucalyptus combined with crisp thunderstorms, and I absolutely loved it. Not only is eucalyptus one of my all-time favorite bath scents, this turned my bathtub a gorgeous tropical shade of blue! This is definitely going on my list to purchase in the future.

Lavish sugar 1 Lavish sugar 2

Small Batch Soaps Monkey Business Sugar Scrub, 6 oz - Estimated Value $5.30 (buy a similar 11 oz product for $14 CAD)

This banana fruit scented sugar scrub smells absolutely divine, and it has that perfect combination of exfoliation (thanks to the organic cane sugar) and moisture (thanks to the avocado and coconut oils). Using this in my regular shower is such a fun change of pace, as both the yellow and orange colors plus the banana fruit scent is definitely different from my normal lotions and potions.

Lavish dust 1 Lavish dust 2

Earth Realm Co Jungle Jane Dusting Powder, 4 oz - Estimated Value $11.94

This dusting powder is another Lavish-exclusive, so the value is based on what other dusting powders from the brand retail for. This has a great scent of citrus combined with sandalwood, and it's refreshing without being too feminine. Dusting powder is great for places that rub or sweat, so I will be reaching for this for my thighs when I am wearing dresses in this miserable Louisiana heat! That Louisiana heat is also probably the reason some of the bubble bars rubbed off on this packaging, but it didn’t affect the functionality of the product. If yours arrived like this, I encourage you to reach out to Katie at Lavish, as in my personal experience she has provided stellar customer service (a prime example is the July Lavish box, which had some international shipping issues and blogger boxes were delayed and sent out last so subscribers wouldn’t have to wait).

The Verdict: I continue to be amazed by the stellar curation and products that come in the monthly box. Two of the products this month came from Canada, and I would never have tried them without this subscription thanks to the international shipping costs! The jungle theme was fun and unique compared to usual bath box themes, and I really enjoyed every scent and every product featured this month. Value-wise, I calculated a value of $44.74, which is just about the cost of the box plus shipping. I think the curation definitely adds value to the box, and I also didn’t have to pay international shipping to try the dusting powder or the sugar scrub, which are two products I will be using until the very last drop!

The Wrap Up:

Can you get this box if you still sign up today? You will receive the September box!

Value Breakdown: This box cost $45.94 ($38.95 + 6.99 shipping) which means you are paying $7.66 per item.

I am a staunch believer that pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza and when I’m not working as a family law attorney I enjoy hiking the Louisiana trails (alligator sightings are a favorite!) or relaxing with Duchess, my cat. I’m a sucker for anything labeled a mystery box and I’ve never met a bath bomb I didn’t like.

Although it was one of my favorites in the box, rattlesnakes also don’t live in the jungle safari either😉 I am IN LOVE with this sugar scrub, but was rather disappointed with the packaging of the dusting powder. Instead of just the plain looking white bottle, it would have looked so cute looking in animal print, which would have fit into the theme nicely.

Good point about the packaging, Megan! I have to say though I am LOVING how it works though! It’s great for inner thighs but also super helpful with chest sweat for bustier gals.

My products all arrived in perfect condition, and I LOVE the colorful, hand painted items.

Lavish curates with truly unique finds and the quality is SO evident. I loved the entire box too. 😉
