Lavish Bath Box July 2018 "90's Throwback" Review
This month’s box arrived later than usual due to an inventory mishap and some customs delays. One thing I really appreciate about Lavish is that subscriber boxes were sent out first, and bloggers received the delayed boxes. I think that is a great way for a company to show they put their subscribers first!
Belles Soaps Etc Starla Bath Bomb - Retail Value $5.50
Starla was a rock star! This bath bomb is scented with juicy peaches and vanilla (so delicious) and when it hit the water streams of yellow, blue, and purple shot out. The end result was some gorgeous bath art that I almost didn’t want to ruin by climbing into the tub.
Along with the colors this bath foamed up beautifully once it hit the water, which I believe is the “bubbling” aspect of the bath bomb.
Dose Bath Co 90’s Kids Whipped Soap - Retail Value $7
This whipped soap is not only fluffy and pretty colors, it also smells JUST like a big bowl of fruit loops--I could not believe my nose when I smelled it the first time! This soap is also loaded with Vitamin E and grapeseed oil to pack on the hydration while cleansing your skin, and my skin felt great after using.
Elastic Hair Bandz Tie-dye Hair Bands - Retail Value $4
Can we really throw it back to the 90’s without some tie-dye? These hair bands are perfect for holding your hair out of your face before you apply a face mask and climb into a bath, but these aren’t going to stay put for longer than that unless you secure them with some bobby pins.
Lavish Bath Co Fruity Loops Bath Pebbles, 4 oz – Estimated Value $8.50 (buy the 8-ounce version here for $16.95)
Along with fruit loops, fruity pebbles were another favorite! These bath pebbles COMBINE the two amazing kinds of cereal to look like fruity pebbles while smelling like fruit loops, and they created some great bubbles for a bubble bath to boot. Big fan of these.
Luxe Bleu Party Like 1999 Bubble Bar - Estimated Value $8
This bubble bar is so gorgeous! The rainbow colors are beautiful to look at and the scent is a mixture of vanilla, strawberries, and jasmine. This did create a bit of a mess when crumbling because the black pigment used to outline the sunglasses got all over my hands, but hey—I was climbing into a bath, after all. These made good bubbles on their own but I really enjoyed mixing them with the bath pebbles—it basically made my bathtub smell like a cereal bowl and I was the prize inside.
Crescent City Swoon Neon Rave Body Butter - Estimated Value $8
This body butter is a Lavish exclusive, so the estimated value is from my general bath and body subscription box knowledge. This body butter was creamy and hydrating, but it didn’t leave me greasy. Crescent City Swoon is a New Orleans-based bath company (they’re only an hour away from me!), and they also have their own subscription box (review coming soon)! I was a bit young to be going to raves in the 90’s (I was born in 1994), but this body butter fits in perfectly with the box theme!
The Verdict: Lavish is such a fun bath box to receive every month! As I continue to receive boxes from Lavish, I really appreciate the artisan products from small brands that are chosen to be included. Because of that, however, the value of this box will never be much higher than the cost of the box itself. This month I calculated a value of $41, which is more than the $38.95 cost of the box but not higher than the cost of the box plus shipping, which is $6.99. I do think the curation is worth that few extra dollars, so if that is something you can appreciate I cannot recommend this box enough.
