Loved + Blessed August 2018 Review

This month’s Loved + Blessed theme is “Relax.”

Mini Poster

This month’s mini-poster says, “YOU CAN DO ANYTHING BUT NOT EVERYTHING” and on the back, it reads, “LET YOURSELF REST.” How appropriate to include this positive message to keep me grounded in what I can and can’t do and to remind me to “let myself rest.” I can get caught up with work, reviews, and personal issues and not take the time to be in the moment and be at ease with myself.

Reminder Sticker

The reminder sticker says, “TAKE A BREAK.”

Scripture Card

This month’s scripture comes from Matthew 11:28-30 NIV:

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

Pillow Case

This 100% polyester pillowcase has “Give it to God and go to bed.” written on the edge of the pillowcase. This standard pillowcase fit my pillow, it had some room, and I could have put a bigger pillow in the case. The pillowcase is an unusual item for this box, but it fits the theme of “Rest” and how I need to get my sleep and be well-rested for life. I received a pillowcase in another subscription box years ago, and it was satin or polyester, and now I have a set of pillowcases that are similar fabric.

The Rancher’s Second Chance By Brenda Minton

Bonus Item: The Rancher’s Second Chance By Brenda Minton

The book is a gift, I'm assuming from the publishing company in conjunction with Loved + Blessed. I saw on Amazon that the Kindle it’s $3.99 and paperbacks $1.99. I’m not much of a romance reader, and the beginning of the story didn’t draw me in and the story of Grace and the Rancher, Brody which seemed all too familiar with their love triangle and her adjusting to changes in her life. The book may be a hit for others. It seemed to be an easy read and finished in one sitting if you choose plus, a typical storyline with an ending that’s predictable hence the name The Rancher’s Second Chance. It seemed to be in a third person narrative and just wasn’t for me. From Amazon:

Reunited with the Cowboy

Pregnant and running scared, Grace Thomas turns to the one man she knows she can count on rancher Brody Martin. The charismatic Texan promises to protect her, but she knows he'll never forgive her for breaking his heart and taking up with his former best friend. Given Brody's unsettled past, Grace understands that the guarded cowboy needs time to trust her again. As he helps her prepare for the baby's arrival, Grace knows she's found the perfect father for her child. But can she dare to dream of a second chance with the man she's never stopped loving?

Enclosed is a “Me Time Activity Idea List” to go along with the theme. “A great way to relax is with a fun book. Enjoy this book and then pass along to a friend.” Plus, enjoy the many activities on the bookmark to have some “me time” which equals rest and indulging in a few more of the activities with a friend.

Encouragement Kit

Loved + Blessed include an Encouragement Kit with every subscription box. I love the idea of an encouragement kit. It is meant to be passed on to a stranger or as an encouragement for someone I know. The encouragement kit this month is a pop-up card with an envelope with “Be Encouraged” on the front, and the back of the card has their logo and website info. Lately, Love+ Blessed have been sending these pop-up cards in their monthly encouragement kit. I have yet to use these pop-up cards; I don’t like when a box has their message and name on a product as an advertisement.

Here’s the scripture card from the pop-up card. The scripture is from Matthew 5:14-15.

Verdict: Loved + Blessed box delivers on sending me encouraging scriptures and products to elevate my soul and allow me to think and dissect my spiritual journey. This month’s theme rest was timely as I’m in need of rest. My favorite items were the pillowcase and the messages from the mini-poster and scripture card. The book wasn’t my favorite, and I will pass onto a friend, The box usually falls around the value of the cost of the sub which is $19.99; this month's value is low, but there’s no monetary value put on encouragement.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, order by the 21st of each month to get the next month's box. If you sign up today, you will receive the September box.

I love the messages on the mini poster and pillow, however I think there is far nicer (ie. higher quality) items that the could of put those messages on. Like I really like the pillowcase saying and I do like the idea and uniqueness of it being on a pillowcase, but there’s such cuter pillowcases they could of choosen. Also, the idea to include a book for a relaxing “me” time activity is great and goes perfectly with the monthly theme. However, I think the book itself was a miss since just like you, I don’t see this being everyone’s cup of tea. There’s plenty of other books out there that would appeal to a wider audience.

We used to get this box for my mother-in-law, an elderly woman who was much cheered and encouraged throughout the month by the “worthless” paper products and got a kick out of the other items. It didn’t matter how monetarily “worth it” I thought the items were; it mattered what she thought.

I’ve looked at this box so many times and still haven’t subscribed. I’m just not sure the value is there for paper products and what is usually just one substantial item.
One thing I do like about Loved + Blessed is that you can purchase former boxes individually from their store!

Agreed. I keep looking at it thinking it would be a great gift for my mother. It’s just never worth the cost. Such small paper items. There isn’t anything of value in here, regularly.

I’d be disappointed if I paid for this box. You are getting a book and a pillow case for $20. I don’t count the paper items as having much monetary value.

Agreed. I would not be happy with this, it’s not worth $20. If you are feeling low and need encouragement, go talk to your friends and family. It’s free and it comes from the heart, not an overpriced subscription box.

This is such a cool little box! Wish I had the extra cash to splurge on it. I really want that poster!
