Mama & Baby August 2018 Review
At the top of our box was this little note that provided a little bit of encouragement for mamas and a thank you for supporting this small business.
Watermelon Picnic Blanket - Retail Value $8.26 (on sale here for $7.02)
This picnic blanket is so cute and summery with the watermelon design. It's made out of polyester and is very lightweight, so while it won't do for a heavy duty picnic, this will be perfect to throw into the diaper bag for an impromptu picnic or seat.
It's not a huge blanket (145 cm), but as you can see two of my kids fit on it comfortably. I see us using this as a safe place for baby to play if we are out!
Old Navy Baby Flip-Flops - Retail Value $3.99 (currently out of stock)
These are a great baby item! The navy color is easy to match with most outfits and I love that there is a velcro strap which helps them fit a little better than others I have seen. I actually haven't bought any flip-flops for my little guy since they aren't a true necessity at his age, so these were appreciated!
Huggies Little Swimmers Swim Diapers (2 pack) - Buy 20 for $9.29
I always appreciate extra diapers in any form and these swim diapers are perfect for summer. This is actually my preferred brand (the ability to open and close the sides is key!) and while I probably won't be using these on my baby boy this summer, it will be nice to have a few on hand for when I do need them!
Sunglasses and Soft Case - Estimated Value $8 (based on a similar pair found here)
I've been receiving a lot of sunglasses in subscription boxes lately, and these are probably my favorite pair so far. They have no brand listed anywhere, but the Mama & Baby logo is ironed on to the soft case they came in, which was a cute touch.
I love the oversized look and while I probably won't wear them for an extended period of time since large plastic arms always tend to hurt after a while (my head is also oversized...), they were great to throw on when I went on a quick walk with the kids the other day!
Salt Water Taffy - Buy 193 pieces for $9.99
There wasn't any info about this other than the tag stating it was salt water taffy, but the brand I linked to looks very similar. I totally forgot to count the pieces before I started eating them, but I think we received about a dozen. They were actually really delicious. I'm not a huge taffy fan, but these had just enough of a chew to them and a slightly tangy, sweet flavor. Needless to say, they are all gone at this point. I love that they came in this super cute beach ball treat bag!
Gold Seashell Charm Bracelet - Retail Value $65 (found on sale here for $12.99)
While looking online for this bracelet, I could only find this listed for wholesale, except for the site that I have linked. The quality of this bracelet is definitely not anywhere close to the original price of $65, but I could see it retailing for $12.99.
The bracelet is cute and beachy with the gold, pearls, and seashells. While it's not something I would wear often, it is fun and I could see myself wearing it while on vacation if I'm feeling playful. It's slightly bulky with all of the charms, but I think it might work well as an anklet.
I'm pretty sure this one will end up being my daughter's though!
Verdict: This was a great summer-themed Mama & Baby box. I love that there is something for mama and something for baby and lately the items have correlated with the season, which is nice! This box is sort of an underdog to me. It is not on the higher end cost-wise, so you aren't getting ridiculously high-quality items, but the value always exceeds the cost of the box and I really feel like the items are thoughtfully put together. There is always at least one useful baby item and a sweet treat for mom, which is always appreciated by me and my sweet tooth. I'm curious to see how this box grows since it is a newer box.
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, you will receive next month’s box. From Mama & Baby:
