More Than Just Moms Fall Box 2018 Review

I loved this little sticker reminding me to treat myself that was at the top of the box before I got into the goodies!

Included was a card that tells you exactly what is in the box along with a brief description and a listed value, which is always appreciated. This box also included some information about Days for Girls and how each box purchased will make a donation to the organization. This is such an incredible group that strives to provide menstrual care to girls who don't have it readily available to them. This is something I definitely take for granted, so it's great to know that the purchase of a box will help support such a great cause!

MaskerAide Bubble Bubble Pop! Charcoal Bubble Sheet Mask - Retail Value $5.40 ($7.00 CAD)

How cute is the design of this mask? I'm always happy to receive a sheet mask in a box and this one was new to me! I had never tried a bubble mask before, and oh how it bubbled; in fact, it was pretty insane how many bubbles kept appearing! It felt sort of like pop rocks for my face with all the mini bubbles popping everywhere. I swear my skin actually looked much brighter and smoother after use, so I'd definitely try this one again!

MaskerAide Tell Me 'Pout It Lip Mask - Retail Value $5.40 ($7.00 CAD)

I was excited to see this lip mask in the box, but unfortunately, I didn't feel like it did much for me. It was a nice large size and easy to apply, although it did slip around quite a bit. My lips were definitely hydrated afterward, but I almost wish I had saved this to try when my lips were actually dry to see if it would help chapped lips. All in all though, a nice pampering treat!

Laritzy Nue Eyeshadow Palette - Retail Value $48.00

This eyeshadow palette is one I have received before and it is a great set of nude shades for a subtle look. There is minimal fallout, the colors stay on fairly well and they blend very nicely. Some of the shades are not incredibly pigmented though and take several swipes to get some color. The palette itself is also a bit flimsy, so I really don't think I'd ever pay retail value for it, but it is definitely a nice palette to receive in a box. I think the shades are pretty universally flattering which is great when catering to many different women.

Here are the shadows swatched from left to right starting with the top row and moving to the bottom row. All but 3 shades are matte, which makes the colors easy to build upon, but my favorites are actually the three shimmers.

Laritzy Lip Gloss in Curve - Retail Value $16.00

This lip gloss is another shade that I think will be pretty universally flattering. It's a very glossy shade with just a hint of pink/berry and a nice shine to it. One thing I didn't like about this was how tacky it felt on my lips. Despite loving the color, it was just too much of a sticky gloss for me.

Here I am wearing both the lip gloss and several different shades of the Nue palette on my eyes.

Cheeks Ahoy Organic Bamboo Facial Rounds - Listed Value $5.00 (Buy 8 for $10.30 here)

This is the item in the box that I was actually most excited about receiving. I am a big fan of reusable items for everyday things- nursing pads, cloth diapers, etc. and this is something I didn't even know existed. I use disposable cotton rounds almost nightly for makeup removal so finding out there was a version that was softer, more effective and also a greener option was awesome. These felt so incredibly soft and gentle on my skin and since they are a little bit larger than the average cotton round, I was able to remove my makeup even better with them. I am definitely a fan and I wanted to buy more, but they only ship to Canda. So sad! But at least I have these three!

Balnapis Cleo's Coconut & Soy Milk Bath - Retail Value $6.33, Listed Value $6.15

I've never tried a milk bath before and it is exactly like it sounds. This really looked and smelled like powdered milk with some dried roses mixed in. It was not heavily scented, but it made my skin super soft and it felt so luxurious to have roses in my bath. It is said that Cleopatra once filled her palace floor with rose petals which is the inspiration for the name. This was a fun bath item to try that was different from the usual bath salt or bath bombs that normally come in boxes.

This item is only in the Mom & Baby Box:

Mami Sippy Cup Cover - Retail Value $6.00

This silicone sippy cup cover is actually something that I have been curious about for a while so I was glad to see it. Plus, it's an elephant and they are my favorite animal! I am a big fan of keeping my kids using cups with lids for as long as possible to keep messes to a minimum and these silicone covers are such a fun option.

I wasn't sure how well they would really work and it was a little tricky to get it around the rim of the cup, but once it was on, it seemed very secure and held the water in. This elephant is a bit small though, so I don't have many cups it will fit around, but I can see how it would be a perfect transition for baby moving from a bottle to a cup! And it's adorable!

Verdict: This box felt like such a great mix of pampering items for mom with a cute item just for baby that moms can definitely appreciate. I took some time to myself and was able to have a bath and use my masks which felt so relaxing. The makeup was decent quality and I like that the shades would look great on a variety of women. I'm also super happy with the discovery of those reusable facial rounds!  The cost of this box was $34.64 ($32.99 + $1.65 tax) and we received a total value of $91.95, which is fantastic. I also love that this is a seasonal box because I tend to appreciate the pampering just a little more when it's spread out! It also makes it feel like such an affordable option.

While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!

I just got my box today. For CAD $14 it’s all right, for $40 – I’m afraid not. I dislike cheap, made in China, brands masquerading as expensive ones (Doucce, Manna Kadar, Laritzy, etc.). I don’t care for a scentless bath soak. Three cotton rounds are good for using once – I’ll have to wash them immediately to be able to use the next time. I don’t like sheet masks of any kind, especially lip and under-eye ones. I’ll give away everything, except for the rounds. I have enough gifts, but I subscribe to boxes because I want to use the items myself. Last season I got a fabulous tote from Obvious State that I’ve been using all summer long.

I really want to support this small Canadian company, especially considering that the owner is a really sweet woman, but I don’t see myself doing so at full price.

I really liked that tote too! I actually ordered 2 summer boxes cause I liked it so much. I’ve been on the fence with this season Box even for 10$, I’m still debating it!

Thank goodness, an honest response. This box is great for 10 bucks but in no way is this a $40 box. I was thoroughly disappointed and cancelled my subscription.

Hi Brandi, there is a brand of reusable cotton squares called Marley’ Monsters. There is a website and they are sold on Etsy as well. They come in all different solid colors and cute patterns. The owner, I think her name is Sarah, is super nice and responsive as well!!

Yay, Days for Girls got a shout out! My sewing group primarily does dresses for girls in other countries (originally we worked with Dress a Girl but I think now we just ship with missionaries directly) – but a number of years ago we started with Days for Girls making the menstrual care packages as well – mostly for girls in Liberia and Benin though some have gone elsewhere. So many girls have to miss school, sometimes for an entire week, when on their period. Making them reusable pads and teaching them how to use them means they can stay in school and not fall behind.

It’s fun hearing about the impact it has. The girls are very happy/proud of their packages (we make the cloth bags the kit comes in as well which gives them a place to put their stuff and gives them privacy) and often pose/model for photos with them, which some of the girls call ‘bluffing.’

It’s an eye opener as well, as living in the U.S. access to sanitary products has never been a concern for me.

The box looks good, too! The elephant sippy cup is so cute. The one thing I would worry about is if the box gets too makeup heavy – mom’s don’t get a lot of time to apply makeup and travel friendly makeup is easier to use than palettes (as much as I love my palettes, I use a little elf trio for applying makeup in the car way more often then I get time to open and use a palette at home.) Lifestyle items (like the milk bath, the reusable bamboo cleaning pads, etc.) are a bit more useful.

This box is amazing, I subscribed last time around and can’t wait to receive my Fall box in a week! Great value even at full price.

Amazon sells a huge variety of bamboo facial rounds. Mind you, it’s not the same brand but I’m betting some would work exact the same.

This box is awesome! I am already subscribed from the last season and can’t wait to receive this on in a day week!

I have reusable facial rounds from etsy. You can find them in a lot of different shops on there! Definitely more effective, less expensive, and better for the environment.

Brandi

I’ll have to check some other shops out! Thanks! 🙂

It’s a shame those makeup remover pads only ship to Canada ☹️
