Our Review
Here is the info sheet providing some details about the items included and distinguishing the full-size from sample sized items.
amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo, Full-Size! - Retail Value $25
Amika has been around the subscription box game for a while, and I am never not happy to see it. The packaging alone is always so bright and cheerful, and while my curly hair never has an issue with getting oily I love the pop of volume this dry shampoo provides at the roots of my hair.
BioSilk Silk Therapy Original, 2.26 oz – Estimated Value $3.39 (buy the 12 oz version for $17.99)
This leave-in oil really helps with smoothing and nourishing your hair. I have been distributing it through my hair after washing and combing it before dividing my hair into two braids, and this really makes me feel like my hair is healthier after using it. Since a little goes a long way, this oil will last me a while. Considering the decent price for the full-size version, I would definitely look into buying more when this runs out.
Briogeo Scalp Revival Charcoal + Tea Tree Scalp Treatment, 0.27 oz – Estimated Value $8.64 (buy the 1 oz version for $32)
I have been wanting to try products from Briogeo that weren't the deep conditioner and this scalp treatment did not disappoint! The blend of peppermint and tea tree provided a zesty cooling feeling that I absolutely loved, and my scalp did feel less dry after using! At first, I was bummed about how tiny this sample was, but it looks like the full-size version is pretty small too. Luckily, you only need a few drops for your entire head so the small size should still last a while.
eos Crystal Lip Balm in Vanilla Orchid, Full-Size! - Retail Value $4.99
This vegan and cruelty-free lip balm is free of all types of wax and instead packs a hydrating punch thanks to all natural oils like coconut and avocado oil. I thought it was really fun that this lip balm sphere is completely see-through, and it did its job of hydrating lips and keeping them chap-free.
Grande Cosmetics GrandeLIPS Hydrating Lip Plumper in Clear, Full-Size! - Retail Value $27
As much as I would like to have slightly plumper lips, lip glosses like these never actually work for me. The tingling sensation always crosses over into burning, and I almost always get a breakout right near my lips after using products like these. I think I probably just have sensitive lips, as this does get a fair amount of great reviews.
John Frieda Frizz Ease Beyond Smooth Frizz Immunity Primer, Full-Size! - Retail Value $7.99
This leave-in smoothing treatment is both lightweight and hydrating thanks to the coconut oil, and I thought this did help to cut down on the frizziness of my curls when I let it air dry. I appreciate how lightweight this is because product buildup is a real issue in keeping my curls healthy and smooth.
Kate Somerville EradiKate Acne Treatment, Full-Size! - Retail Value $26
I am going to tell Y'all a sad story, so get your tiny violins out. I have paid full price for this spot treatment at Sephora because it is sulfur-based and that is an ingredient that really helps me to counteract my cystic acne. I was so excited to get a full-size bottle in this box! When I first pulled it out to photograph it was too shaken up from shipping to photograph properly at first—this has a thick substance at the bottom of the jar that is the acne treatment and the top layer is a thin liquid to keep it suspended, and it specifically states on the bottle to not shake. I figured I would let it settle and photograph it the next day, and I brought it into my bathroom to use that night. Disaster struck in the middle of the night when I woke up to use the restroom, however—in my tired haze I accidentally knocked the bottle off my counter, to the floor, and the lid broke off the bottle and this acne-fighting miracle liquid spilled everywhere. I am still heartbroken, and though this is definitely on the pricey end of acne treatments it really is an effective spot treatment. My one caution is to only use this once every other day or less - it can become less effective over time if you use too much, and it also can be overly drying so make sure to moisturize thoroughly!
Lancome Bi-Facil Double-Action Eye Makeup Remover, 1.7 oz – Retail Value $15
This is the mini-size eye makeup remover, and it is a great and gentle remover that can handle stubborn mascara and eyeliner with ease. I also used this as a regular face makeup remover because I don’t have the patience for using two different removers, and it also took off my foundation and lipstick with no problem.
Laneige Water Sleeping Mask, 0.3 oz – Estimated Value $3.26 (buy the 2.3 oz version for $25)
I love Laniege—their lip sleeping mask is a holy grail product for me! This water sleeping mask is best used when your skin really needs a boost of deep hydration, and the gel consistency meant it absorbed into my skin quickly. My skin felt plump and more hydrated the next morning, so I would say this sleeping mask does what it promises to do!
Lumene Lahde Pure Arctic Miracle 3-in-1 Micellar Cleansing Water, Full-Size – Retail Value $7.99
Fun fact—right before I found out I was getting this product in the box, I talked about it with one of my best friends because this is the only cruelty-free micellar water she could find at Target! I can see why my friend likes to use it—it is great at removing makeup, but I also like using it in the morning when I wake up to quickly cleanse before continuing with my morning routine. This is hydrating and non-irritating, and I love the versatile uses this offers.
Pacifica Purify Coconut Water Cleansing Wipes, Full-Size! - Retail Value $6
Cleansing wipes are one of those subscription box items I can never have too many of, and I love the packaging of these Pacifica ones! These aren’t intending to be makeup removing wipes, and I don’t think they have the fighting power to take off a full face. I do love reaching for these on nights I am tired and didn’t wear makeup, as it is a quick way to clean my face with about 95% less effort. These didn’t irritate my skin, and I think these would also be great to use after a workout at the gym.
Paul Mitchell Ultimate Color Repair Mask, Full-Size! - Retail Value $27
I don't dye my hair so I cannot attest to if this helps to keep hair color vibrant, but it does pack a great punch of hydration to dry hair. With curly hair, it is a perpetual battle of keeping my hair soft, smooth, and not dry as the desert, and I thought this left my hair feeling shiny and healthy.
PCA SKIN HydraLuxe, 0.5 oz – Estimated Value $40.83 (buy the 1.8 oz version for $147)
Holy skincare, Batman—talk about a pricy moisturizer! This is called Hydraluxe because it really is very luxe! It soaks into my skin with ease and instantly makes my skin feel more plump and hydrated without being greasy. The formula is a little thick but it spreads out with ease so you don't need too much, and I will truly be using this down to the last drop because I love the way it makes my skin feel.
Revision Skincare Nectifirm Advanced, 0.5 oz – Estimated Value $39.11 (buy the 1.7 oz version for $133)
Hello, another expensive skincare item I normally would not be able to afford! According to the website, this was chosen by New Beauty as “the neck cream that delivers noticeable results.” I don’t really use neck creams in my skincare routine, so I am not sure what results I am supposed to be seeing. Even though I am not the targeted audience for this cream, I have enjoyed adding it to my regular routine and feeling really fancy about it (though if my mom knew I had a fancy neck cream like this and didn’t give it to her, she would guilt me so hard).
ScarAway Silicone Scar Sheets, 8 sheets - Estimated Value $23.33 (buy 12 sheets for $34.99, found here for $21.05)
These silicone scar sheets use the same technology that burn centers and plastic surgeons use to try and reduce excessive scar formation and also encouraging scars to fade completely. I don't really have scars to test these on, and I imagine I would need more time than a few days to see results, but I passed these along to a friend who is currently getting a tattoo removed and she said that the scar sheets are comfortable to wear for the long hours that ScarAway recommends to be effective, which is about 12 hours a day. This box is considered to be a four-month supply due to each silicone sheet being washable and reusable, so I imagine if one was going to see results it would be after a few months.
SheaMoisture Coconut & Hibiscus Co-Wash Conditioning Cleanser, Full-Size! - Retail Value $13.99
I really enjoy the coconut and hibiscus curl line from Shea Moisture as I really feel it is one of the best drugstore curl lines on the market. I found this to be lightweight but hydrating, making it a good product to use between shampoos and deep conditioners.
Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream, 2.5 oz – Retail Value $20
While this isn't the biggest bum bum cream available, I still consider this smaller size to be a full-size product since it can be purchased in this exact size from Sephora. I am definitely on the Sol de Janeiro train—I find their products to be hydrating and smell great, and I do really enjoy having a lotion I use just on my derriere while I try to emulate the Brazilian goddesses this product was inspired by! I like how thick this cream was, as it felt really luxurious to apply without leaving me greasy in the slightest.
St. Tropez Gradual Self Tan Plus Sculpt and Glow Everyday Multi-Active Toning Lotion, Full-Size! Retail Value $35
I am very pale, I burn easily, and my mom has had some cancerous moles removed due to sun exposure. I do not tan and I try to always wear sunscreen, so if I want to get some killer tanned legs products like these are my only way to do so. This doesn’t have the typical self-tanner scent, and I liked that I didn’t have to worry about streaks since the lotion helps the product dissipate. I did notice a slight change in the color of my legs after one use, and I think I will be using this for special occasions where I want my legs to look extra great.
Sunday Riley Martian Mattifying Melting Water-Gel Toner, Full-Size! - Retail Value $55
I absolutely LOVE Sunday Riley, and I have used this toner before with great results. I was so excited to see that this product was included, because if this works for you then it’s like paying full price for the toner and $5 for everything else in this box. A little bit of this goes a long way—I use about a half a pump per application, and it really does help to mattify my t-zone and any other oily spots on my face. The green tea helps to reduce redness, and the tea tree helps to fight any current acne spots. Basically, if you have oily, acne-prone skin this product is a godsend, and now that I have a full-size version of this I use it religiously every night!
Zoya Nail Polish in Delia, Full-Size! - Retail Value $10
I love Zoya nail polish, and Delia is a part of the recently released Summer 2018 collection! The formula is just perfection with two easy coats for full opacity with no pulling, but this definitely needs to be used with a top coat otherwise there will be chips happening within a day or two.
The Verdict: I am absolutely in love with this box! This box contains so many awesome brands, so many great full-size items, and all of the sample sizes contain enough product for multiple uses. This box contains 12 full-size items (14 items including the bum bum cream and Lancome makeup remover), which I think is stellar when you consider that you are essentially paying $3 per item in this box. I calculated an estimated value of $399.52, which meets the promise of $400 in value. I think that is absolutely insane, and I am seriously considering buying a second box since this is still available!
