Here's a card with general care instructions for the plants in the box.

Last month's plants were shipping in tissue paper wrapping. This month, they arrived hugged in bubble wrap.

This month's box also came with individual cards labeling each plant and providing specific care information. This first plant stood out to me because of its big paddle-like leaves. They almost look like big green potato chips, haha! The leaves are each about 1-2 inches long. I definitely don't have any succulents shaped quite like this little guy!

Sempervivum Cobweb

At first glance, I thought this plant had just been sitting in a box for too long, but no! Those little cobweb-like strands are a natural part of the plant! The shape of the leaves is also really interesting. They kind of have the shape of medieval swords. The plant is on the small side—it's barely two inches across.

Sempervivum Calcareum

This plant is also just under 2 inches wide. It's the kind of shape I imagine when I think about succulents, with its flower-like bloom of leaves. It has itty bitty spines along its leaves, and the leaves themselves are rather thin for a succulent. I'm interested to see if I can help these smaller babies thrive and grow!

Kalanchoe Tomentosa

This last plant has a real fuzzy look about it. It's kind of like a succulent went playing in the woods for a day! This plant is about 3 inches across, so it's on the bigger side for this sub. I like the rustic vibe of this fuzzy little guy!

The Verdict: The price breakdown after shipping for this subscription ends up being a bit more expensive than what I might expect to spend on similarly sized plants at my local hardware store's greenhouse department. But if you don't have access to succulents and are interested in collecting them, I could see this box as being convenient and fun. The plants seem pretty hardy, though I've found that they're happiest when they pop out of their tiny packages and into a big pot ASAP. I haven't noticed a ton of growth in the past plants I've received from this subscription box, but they are still happy and green.

To Wrap Up:

Can I still get this box if I sign up today?: Yes! Though your assortment may look slightly different, depending on how many plants you choose.

Value Breakdown: This four plant box costs $22.00 (at retail) + $7.35 shipping to PA, or $29.35 total. That means each plant cost an average of $7.34 after shipping.

This subscription is absurdly overpriced. I gave these plants away as favors at my wedding and I think I paid about $0.50/plant. Granted I live in CA and could go directly to the supplier, but still. If anyone wants to pay me $7/plant I will get you as many as you need!

Actually, compared to other subscription for succulents, theirs are fair price for the size & convenience. Since not everyone has enough time or live in CA to get to the nursery, I guess.

Flapjacks are my favorite succulent! They turn a beautiful red leaf color when left outside and will grow to be huge too!
