Switch 2 Pure August 2018 Review
Their info card is pretty simple and just lists advantages and their website.
There are also a smattering of random ads in the box that aren't related to the products included.
Plus, a copy of "The Portable Purist" which is a small travel magazine and list of wellness retreats and resorts around the world.
Innersense Quiet Calm Curl Control
In addition to the items, Switch 2 Pure sends some extra samples in each box as well. I don't have curly hair, so this one is lost on me, but I'll pass it on to someone who can try it out.
ECO Modern Essentials Vitamin C Serum
I enjoy serums, so getting a sample of this one is cool. There's probably at least 2 uses in this one.
"Hold Fast to Your Dreams" Pencil
It's unclear whether this is a little bonus or one of the actual items in the box. Since pencils are cheap, I think I'll chalk it up to an extra goody. I rarely use pencils anymore so I will most likely donate this one to my library. The sentiment is nice.
Orgaid Vitamin C Revitalizing Organic Sheet Mask - Retail Value $6.00
One look at this mask and I was all "ooooh, you fancy". It just looks super classy with its matte finish chartreuse package. I opened it up to immediately find that this is probably the nicest smelling sheet mask I've ever come across. It reminds me of an Arnold Palmer (mix of iced tea + lemonade) which is the most refreshing drink on earth. This also happened to perfectly fit my face which never happens. It was petite, all of the holes were in the right place, and it stayed put without sliding around. I left this one for the minimum 20 minutes which was a bit longer than most face mask directions. My face felt extremely plump with hydration and I loved how gentle it was. No alcohol (or parabens or sulfates or phthalates) were in here which is fantastic! Highly recommended.
ECO Modern Essentials Argan Hair Oil, 3.21 oz. - Retail Value $16.00
Ahhhh- I'm torn! I really want to control my flyaways and frizz lately but my hair is so freaking fine that even looking at an oil makes it greasy and stringy. There are two ways to use this: for styling (on dry hair) or as a treatment (on dry or damp for 20 mins or overnight). There's no way I'm going to apply this to my dry washed hair, but I am intrigued to see what it does overnight on damp hair. I'm just afraid to add any more oil to my hair so I may just need to pass this one on.
Kosmatology Botanical Bliss Sugar Body Scrub, 3 oz.- Retail Value $8.99
Scrubs are kind of an easy thing to keep on the natural side and simple enough that a motivated person could make their own with minimal effort. This particular one is completely organic though and uses sugar, grapeseed oil, lavender flowers, lavender essential oil, and vanilla absolute oil. If you ask me, lavender is the perfect scent for anything in the bath that you may use to pamper yourself. It's so calming and just gives the sense of luxury. I like to use scrubs on my bum to keep the skin super soft or other rough areas like the back of my arms or thighs. This has a nice grit to it that feels like it's getting that dead skin off but replenishes with oil to keep things soft. This definitely made a bit of a mess of my shower with the lavender, but it's worth it.
PLANT Apothecary Calm Down Body Wash, 2.3 oz. - Retail Value $7.00
I can't help but giggle every time I see this because I want to yell at it "DON'T TELL ME TO CALM DOWN!". But I get it, this body wash is trying to help me chill out with ginger and more lavender. I really like this little bottle it comes in which is a perfect travel size. It's certified organic and is made without yucky stuff. I didn't love the lather of this as much, but it's probably because it's a natural product which tends not to lather. Smells pretty nice though!
Honey Belle Elixir Rejuvenating Facial Oil, 0.5 oz. - Retail Value $15.00
I've been seeing a lot more facial oils flood in lately after a bit of a lull for a while. I wonder if it's just the seasons that matters. For me, I have generally kind of oily skin, so I reserve luxe products like this to those chappy winter months where my skin needs the extra boost. I love this super femme package and bottle with pretty florals, plus you know I can't resist a glass dropper! This one is hemp seed oil based and lucky for me contains grapefruit and basil essential oils, along with my beloved rosemary. A little bit of this goes a long way.
Suntegrity Lip CPR Natural Sunscreen Lipstick in Solar Rose - Retail Value $28.00
I am really good at having my skincare regimen be natural and free of toxins, but my makeup is another story. I pay little to no attention to the ingredients there and just go for what looks good. That being said, I should pay more attention to how my makeup is made as well so I welcomed this lipstick that is natural and contains zinc-oxide for protection from the sun. This cream stick glides on really easily and has 30 SPF, but unfortunately just isn't my color. It has a bit of a shimmer to it while I prefer mattes. At least this has made me more aware of things to look for. I'll probably pass this on to my mom because I have a feeling she'll love it.
There's an entire booklet with more products as well.
Verdict: My first brush with Switch 2 Pure was pretty good. I didn't care for all of the paper ads that were included and the travel magazine is a bit lost on me, but the actual products were new brands to me. I received six items, mostly full-size, that have a total retail value of $80.99, plus I got the pencil, and a couple of samples. Overall, I think this box could use a bit more curation since it felt a little random to me, and it could be simplified, but the contents exceed the $57.00 cost, which includes free shipping. I'm a little burnt out on facial oils and scrubs at the moment, so I'd love to see something different, but I'm eager to see what future boxes deliver.
