August 2018 Vinyl Me, Please Review
The August 'Essentials' album is Be The Cowboy from Mitski.
They have this new little album sleeve that details the album and gives you that cocktail mix.
It's also accompanied by an LP-size piece of artwork. This month's artwork comes from Charlotte Mei.
Mitski - Be The Cowboy
This is the 6th studio album from Mitski - but the first full album I've ever listened to from this artist. I was excited to give it a spin!
I thought the album artwork was great - including this detailed booklet:
The artwork is big and bold! I loved flipping through this.
Musically, I enjoyed it - it was pretty dang good! The tracks seemed equal parts poppy and equal parts ominous. While I didn't love all of the tracks, I was a big fan of Geyser, Nobody, and felt that Two Slow Dancers was an excellent album closer!
Verdict: I'm a big fan of discovery months - and this was one of those! I've listened to this album a few times now, and the single tracks more than a few times - and that's exactly what I'm looking for with music subscriptions!
