ZenPop Ramen + Sweets Mix Pack July 2018 Review

This box comes with an info sheet that explains everything included! This month’s box has an overall citrus theme.

Cheese Arare

These light chips don’t have too strong of a cheddar flavor, but they were very addicting. They have a great crunch while still being airy, and they weren’t too salty or greasy.

Barbecue Scorn

These chips are like if a Cheeto (shape and crunchy texture) and a smoky BBQ chip (flavor) had a baby, and I loved it. I ate the entire bag in one sitting and I do not regret it one bit.

Stars in the Night Sky

These little balls of sugar are just like star-shaped rock candy! As a lover of rock candy, I gobbled this up real quick. Why such a small size, Zenpop?

Shigekix Lemon

Oh, boy were these sour! These reminded me of a sour spree, but since this is so chewy the sour flavor lingers on your tongue longer.

Pure Gummy

The flavor of these gummies reminds me of a margarita and I am here for it! These gummies had a great chewy texture—the only disappointment is that I wasn't lucky enough to get an elusive star-shaped gummy.

Lemon Cream Sandwich Crackers.

These cream-filled sandwich cookies have more of a lemon essence than a true lemon flavor, but these actually weren't as awful as I was expecting. I wouldn't choose these over a yellow oreo, but I would eat these if I was hungry.

Lemon Squash Caramel Corn

These lemon flavored caramel corn treats have the true sour taste of a lemon that fades to sweet. These are a bit too unique for my tastes—I still prefer the original Tohato caramel corn which are soo good.

Suppai Lemon

All three of the candies look exactly alike, only two are sweet and one is incredibly sour. Zenpop suggested playing a game by having random people picking one and eating it at the same, and the person who gets the sour one has to compliment the others. I was the person who got the sour one, and since I was expecting that the sour was almost paralyzing. As soon as I swallowed it I started guzzling water while my friends enjoyed the show while chewing their sweet piece of candy. The flavor is not unlike a lemon warhead extreme, but I think the sour punch is more intense because I wasn’t expecting it.

Chicken Salt Lemon Ramen

The noodles on this ramen were thin. When I tried the noodles I was surprised because the broth was actually really pleasant and not sour at all, which was surprising based on the fact that the packaging shows a King with a puckered mouth because of how sour it was. When I finished I went back into my kitchen and saw that I had forgotten to actually add in the seasoning packets and that’s why it wasn’t sour. Oops.

Mochi Mochi Yakisoba

This ramen has a built-in strainer on the lid that drains all of the water, so this is definitely more like a traditional yakisoba than a regular ramen. I liked it and thought the overall flavor was well balanced and savory.

The Verdict: This month’s box from  ZenPop was an experience! Some of these snacks took the lemon flavor to the extreme, and my taste buds are still haunted. Overall, I think a citrus-themed snack box is very unique, and it was made even more fun by the fact that these were shipped straight from Japan!
