Frank And Oak Style Plan September 2018 Review

When you first sign up for this subscription, you fill out a quick style profile that captures your sizing preferences and your sense of style. (Choose from Casual, Classic, and Creative). Then, you can pick whether you'd like a monthly or a bi-monthly plan and set your budget for each box (under $150 or $150+).

Before your box ships, you get an email inviting you to hop in and preview your order. The page that opens up has about 12 products total on the page, and the three products set to ship in my order are at the top of the page and marked with green check marks. The plan includes three items, but you can choose more than three if you'd like. The prices are all discounted for you, so it's a deal compared to just shopping the regular site.

frank and oak note

Sad face—it looks like one of the three items I picked wasn't shipped! It was a pair of jeans that I was excited to try. I do like that they're really transparent about the whole thing (I got an email about the missing item before the package even arrived) and that they'll refund me. Still, I'll miss those jeans!

Here's the invoice for the three pieces I ended up with, plus the return instructions. (If you didn't know before, Frank And Oak is a Canadian company, which explains all the French you'll see on their packaging and paperwork!)

Let's check out what I got!

frank and oak mustard yellow fitted turtleneck

frank and oak mustard turtleneck

Long Sleeve Mock Neck in Mustard Brown, Size Medium - Retail Value $49.50, Member Price $39.50

I am loving this golden yellow top! It's got a super fitted silhouette with plenty of comfy stretch. (The fabric content is 57% cotton, 38% modal, and 5% spandex.) The color is so fall (it's literally the color of autumn leaves), plus I find the mustard hue to be pretty flattering to my skin and eyes. The best part is that, with its long sleeves and turtleneck, the top is cozy, but since it's made of thin, breathable fabric, it doesn't feel stuffy at all. It's a great transition piece from cool end-of-summer days to brisk fall ones.

Corduroy Cropped Wide Leg Pant in Dark Green, Size 12 - Retail Value $79.50, Member Price $69.50

It's been YEARS since I've owned corduroy pants. I'm so used to buying corduroy versions of skinny or tailored pants, which always end up looking a little weird on me—the way the straight lines of the cords lay against my curves is always a little less than flattering. But I love the aesthetic, especially for fall, and when I saw that the cords Frank and Oak were offering had a wide leg cut, I was curious. I was offered a rose-colored version of these pants, too, but I decided to go in for the dark green, which felt like something I could more easily mix and match for fall. I'm happy to report that this pair is one of the most comfortable pairs of pants I've ever put on! They're 100% cotton, soft as all get out and fit like a dream. One thing I love about this service is that Frank and Oak automatically chooses the right size for you based on what you put in your style profile. I typically wear a 10 in jeans, but now and then, Frank and Oak will choose a 12 for me, depending on the item. I can say that a 10 in these pants would have probably fit, but a bit more snugly than they needed to. The pants have a retro, kind of 70s shape and vibe to them with their wide cut and crop. I don't have anything like them, but I'm digging the very cool, slightly unusual silhouette they create on me.

Verdict: I'm bummed about the jeans, but only because I love my Frank And Oak Style Plan so much that I know that they would've been great! I'm so excited to wear the two pieces I did get out and about. I feel like both pieces could be dressed up OR down, depending on my needs. (I could wear the turtleneck under a dress or tucked into a skirt, and I could wear the cords with a prim button-down, a slouchy sweatshirt, or even a tucked-in tank.) My closet is slowly being overtaken by Frank and Oak products—I've actually donated a few pairs of so-so pants I'd been holding on to in favor of the looks I've been getting from this sub! The quality is just so awesome. Everything washes so well and fits so well and coordinates so well with the other Frank and Oak looks I have AND the favorite separates I have in my closet. It's fun to have some control over what I get each month while still getting a curated experience. I can get really overwhelmed going to the mall when I know I need something new and having SO many choices. After so many wins, I totally trust Frank and Oak to do (just enough of) the shopping for me, so that I always end up with pieces that suit my style, my lifestyle (as little dry cleaning as possible, please!), and my body.

To Wrap Up:

Can I still get this box if I sign up today? No, each box is customized based on your style plan. Under the new $25 styling fee plan, boxes ship automatically on the 1st of the month, and you can log in 2 days before shipment to add or remove items or skip the month altogether. That said, you can still follow the product links above to shop these items for yourself from their site catalog!

New Deal: Use this link to get your first box with no styling fee!

Value Breakdown:  The member's price for the two items I received this month is $109.00. At retail, the clothes I got would have cost me $129.00. If I decide to return all the items, I will pay the $25 styling fee and will be refunded the remaining amount, but I can keep any one item at the discounted price and no styling fee will be charged.

I love those pants! My hesitation on this sub is- I get coupons all the time for 20% off. The pants with this sub come out to be more expensive than that. I know you’re paying for styling, but I think I might just choose some pieces to purchase with a discount.
