Kal-Elle Fandom Monthly "Incredibles" Review
The front of the card this month is an awesome stylized depiction of the Parr family in action, and the back of the card breaks down all the goodies contained within the box.
Violet Magnet
This month’s magnet is a strong offering of my girl Violet throwing up one of her signature force fields. I love the bright colors on this, and the square shape makes for a nice change from previous magnets.
Incredibles Necklace
I figured there would be some jewelry in this box, and I love the minimalist design of this piece of just the “I” symbol. The finish of the chain is interesting, too - I don’t often see pieces that are one solid color, but I think it looks neat to have the pendant and chain match each other. The chain is super-long, so I did pull it back a little bit to make the pendant sit higher on my neck, but I like the flexibility of being able to wear it long, too.
Elastigirl Bracelet
I love the style of bracelets found in these boxes - they’re adjustable and perfect for layering. Featuring an Elastigirl quote that really resonates with me, this is a cool homage to the character without being overly branded or making too much of a reference to the movie. A subtle nod to fandom can be super cool sometimes!
The Incredibles Earrings
I can’t get enough of stud earrings these days. My ears are pierced twice, so I love coming up with new earring combos, and studs are usually a good pick to put in the mix. I love the logo on this; it almost looks like it’s glowing from within. I also really like the rubber stopper added to the backs of these to keep them extra secure - it’s a nice, thoughtful touch!
Edna Drawstring Backpack
Yes - Edna! One of my very favorite Pixar characters, Edna Mode has been often compared to a mashup between famous costume designer Edith Head and James Bond’s tech expert, Q. The quote printed on this bag is something she says to Mr. Incredible, but I think it’s also a nice reminder to live in the now and not dwell on the past. The size and shape for the bag are great for everything from library books to a change of clothes for yoga!
These prints are always so neat, and I think the design on this one is so clever. I love that Jack Jack’s special powers are essentially creating the letters below. The designs are sort of watercolor-like in texture, and the color palette on this has neat pops of reds, greens, and yellows.
The Incredible Nail Art Collection - Retail Value $3.50
I was so glad to see nail accessories in this box! I love the variety of characters, shapes, and quotes. And you wouldn’t have to just use them on nails - you could easily decorate a notebook or a phone case with these.
Bonus Gift: Pin
And last, an extra prezzie - this pin! I love the finish, and how it looks like the texture of a fabric.
Verdict: Another well-thought out box! I liked that this was a more niche fandom; many people love Disney, but picking this super-powered Pixar family made the box so unique. I thought the design of everything was really strong; the Jack Jack print and necklace both had interesting visual elements, and the earrings were a great addition to my collection. I really liked the bracelet, the Edna bag is super-useful, and the nail art and pin added awesome item variety to this box.
