Kawaii Box August 2018 Review
This box always includes a little booklet detailing the items and also reveals the theme for the month. This booklet is designed differently than in months past – it looks really nice! This month’s box theme is “Too Cute for School,” which is so great. I’ve always loved school, and more importantly, loved back-to-school shopping, so let’s see what’s inside!
Magical Unicorn Pencil Pouch
We’re starting off strong in this box, hooray! Everyone who has known me for about five minutes knows I adore unicorns, and it was so exciting to me to receive something that I already love. I do receive a lot of writing utensils, not just from this box, but in general, and it will be really nice to just throw this in a drawer and keep all of my pens and pencils organized.
Fruity Eraser
It’s so cute, but truly, this eraser will also be really useful! I can never seem to find an eraser when I need one. I really like that this has an enclosed case so that it doesn’t get scuffed up in a drawer or if I have to stick it in my bag and take it with me on the go.
Kawaii Octopus Ink Pen
I really like the style of pens that arrive in these boxes; the pen tip is super-thin, and it isn’t a ballpoint - it’s almost like a super-thin marker. This little octopus friend will be good company at my desk, looking just as good in a cup as in my hand, jotting notes.
Koinobori Plush Charm
This little guy sure looked familiar when I opened the box, and I realized I’ve seen this fish shape before. Koinobori, which means “carp streamer” in Japanese, is a type of windsock commonly flown to celebrate Children’s Day. I think it’s super-cute; I may just have to attach it to my keys for good luck!
Never Stop Dreaming Notebook
Another unicorn item, friends - it’s definitely a lucky box for me this month! I love the size of this so much; it’s big enough to write in comfortably, but still small enough to travel. I’m always scribbling little lists, notes, and to-dos throughout the day, and while it’s a small detail, I love the band that goes around the cover and pages, keeping the book together. It prevents the pages from getting marred and ensures it won’t get tangled with anything else in my purse or work bag!
Namakemono No Mikke Plushie
I thought I was pretty well-versed in all things cute by this time since I do receive them regularly, but I’m happy to report that I actually cooed out loud at this little friend when I opened the box! There was quite a rainbow of colors I could’ve received of this guy, including pink and green, but I like the grey one I received. It’s restful, and the fur is so soft. Just looking at him makes me want to take a nap (in a good way)!
Rainbow Pon-de-Ring Squishy
The squishies are one of my favorite elements of this box - I think they’re so awesome for stress relief! This shape is a nod to the signature sweet at the Japanese locations of the Mister Donut chain. The donuts aren’t rainbow like this squishy, but I bet they are delicious!
Sumikko Gurashi Stickers
Is it possible for stickers to be cozy? Because these totally are! I adore stickers, and I can’t wait to affix these to my wall calendar. The gold foil is so pretty, and just looking at them makes me smile.
Yori Cook Mini Whiteboard
I love that there’s a theme to this whiteboard! I love to cook on the weekends, but planning dinners for the week is my least favorite chore. Maybe something this cute will keep me motivated? I think I’m going to put this on my fridge and at least make a note of what veggies came this week in my CSA so I don’t have to open the fridge constantly.
Verdict: This Kawaii Box was even more fun for me than usual this month! I really liked the item types this month - it was a lot of office stuff that I use regularly, as well as a few fun things to brighten my day. I’m obsessed with the unicorn items I received, I might have hugged the sloth twice already, and the koinobori charm and whiteboard are going to add a lot of whimsy to my living space.
