Love with Food Tasting Box September 2018 "Prosperity" Review
This month’s theme is “Prosperity,” but it isn’t tied to the box offerings in any particular way.
The box came with an information card providing a URL to describe this month’s products rather than including them on paper. The card also included the details for a special snack box sweepstakes and mention of two snack sales happening in the Love with Food shop.
Love with Food also included a coupon for Hello Fresh. Check out all of our Hello Fresh reviews to learn more and save $30 off your first box!
Byrd’s Georgia Peach Cookies (1 oz) – Buy 10 bags for $23.70 (found here for $14.99)
These cookies were crispy, crumbly, and had the perfect hint of peach flavor. The powdered sugar coating is a nice touch. The serving size listed in the nutrition facts is 9 cookies, but this snack pack only came with 5 inside. Half the calories, I guess—but worth every single one. I was only planning to have one or two for the sake of review, but nibbled through all 5! Finishing the bag welcomes a tall glass of water.
This item was also sent in this month's Love With Food Deluxe Box.
Poppies Coconut Macaroon (1.2 oz) – Buy 15 for $24.60 (found here for $19.99)
As you can see, I was rather excited to try this. The cookie was dense and held together well when taken out of the package. The coconut flavor is mild and pleasant, and the coconut bits didn’t get wedged in my teeth like a lot of other coconut-based snacks do. A product of Belgium, this macaroon was moist and quite nice for a gluten-free treat.

Epic Performance Bar in Peanut Butter (1.87 oz) - Buy 9 bars for $18.99
Soy free, gluten free, non-GMO, packed with 12 grams of protein, and all wrapped up in aesthetically-pleasing packaging, this performance bar talked a pretty big game right off the bat. It was shockingly glossy and slick, not at all sweet, and stuck to my front teeth pretty fiercely. This seems like a bar designed more for functionality (powering through a workout, avoiding stopping for snacks on a long drive) instead of pleasure, unless you’re really into slippery peanut-flavored things and copious amounts of protein. I could see myself grabbing one of these before exercising for some energy, but that’s about it.
A different flavor for this item was sent in this month's Love With Food Deluxe Box.
Kameda Crisps Savory Rice Snack in Sweet Chili (0.88oz) - Buy a 3.5oz 12 pack for $30.78
I found the thick plastic packaging difficult to open. The orange pieces had the familiar taste of a traditional rice snack, and the peanuts were pretty plain. The flavor was overall very mild for something touting itself as sweet chili. I believe the draw of this snack was the crunch, which it did very well.
Snyder’s of Hanover Mini Pretzels (0.5oz) - Buy a 16oz bag for $2.98
Ahh, mini pretzels! What a field trip throwback! I haven’t seen these in years. Crunchy, salty, and straightforward, these bite-sized snacks are as conventionally tasty as they’ve ever been—with the added appeal of being non-GMO.
Appleways Simply Wholesome Granola Crispy Bites (1oz) - Buy a 1oz 12 pack for $11.99
These were easily my favorite of the box. I usually don’t have high hopes when it comes to anything granola-related, but these crispy little bites had a very pleasant and nostalgic cinnamon apple flavor I really liked. Well done, Appleways! I’ll be putting these on a road trip grocery list, ASAP.
Old Wisconsin Natural Cut Turkey Snack Stick (0.5oz) - Buy a 6oz pack for $10.31
I’m not usually a fan of jerky, but I had no problems finishing off this turkey snack stick. Equally salty, smoky, and savory (not to mention gluten-free), this jerky was surprisingly delicious.
The Verdict: There were 7 items in the September 2018 Love with Food Tasting Box. The snacks I expected to like the least were the ones I wound up enjoying the most—looking at you, turkey jerky and granola bites. For $7.99, including free US shipping, this box was totally worth discovering new, health-focused treats, especially considering Love with Food’s philanthropic mission to help fight childhood hunger with every purchase made. Wins all around!
