Mine Chest is back! It is a subscription service that delivers official and exclusive Minecraft items every month! Mine Chest was partnered with Loot Crate for a while, but they are now back on their own and started shipping monthly again as of August. They have been on hiatus since January. My ten-year-old son could not be more excited!

Mine Chest August 2018 Review

This month's theme is The Journey Continues! Which is fitting, as this is their re-launch box. They used to send out cool holographic postcards with this sort of narrative written on it, but now it seems to be a poster instead. My son really likes it since he can put it in his locker! It's the perfect size for the door!

Exclusive Minecraft Tee - Estimated Value $15

Possibly my favorite thing about our Mine Chest subscription is having my son explain to me what the tee shirt depicts. This month it's a scene from this month's biome, the Aquatic, which I believe is a recently upgraded biome. You can see fish and sea creatures, and a shipwreck in the background. The trident-wielding person over to the right is one of The Drowned, which I think is kind of creepy, but I guess there's a whole array of kind of creepy bad guys in Minecraft. The important thing is that my son loves his new tee! He is wearing a Youth Medium and is exact average height and weight for a ten-year-old, for reference.

Mine Chest Exclusive Stickers (two sheets)

Mine Chest Exclusive Stickers (two sheets) - Estimated Value $2

These sticker sheets are kind of cooler than your average stickers, because they are actually tons of little stickers, and you can use them to build up a Minecraft world on paper! This one is full of more sea creatures.

Hologram - Estimated Value $2

This is another Mine Chest exclusive! It's a hologram! I am wondering if next month they will send out another hexagon and my son will eventually be able to fit all the hexagon biomes together into a Minecraft world. That would be cool! This one depicts more sea scenes, with fish and coral reefs and another of The Drowned.

Minecraft Exclusive Pin

Minecraft Exclusive Pin - Estimated Value $5

It's a puffer fish! When my son told me that, I actually thought it was pretty cute! He loves these pins for sticking into his cork board.

Minecraft Plush Hanger - "The Drowned" - Estimated Value $10

Yep, it's a drowned head! I'm actually kind of conflicted about how creepy this is getting. In any case, it has adorable scars? This is another Mine Chest exclusive!

The Verdict: After a seven-month hiatus, this was an awesome re-launch package from Mine Chest! I mainly gauge how cool a Mine Chest is by my son's reactions to the swag, and it never disappoints. This month his favorite item was the tee. He has been into the Minecraft plush toys they have been sending for a while now because he can use them kind of like blocks, but I'm glad his favorite was the tee this month. He also really likes sharing this subscription with his friends. The value of everything this month adds up to about $34 if my guesses are near accurate, which beats the cost of the box by about $4. This is such a fun subscription for Minecraft fans!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, you will receive the October box. From Mine Chest:

Mine Chest is a bi-monthly subscription. Chests should arrive between the 5th and 15th of every even numbered month.

Value Breakdown: This box costs $23 + $7 shipping, which means that each of the 6 items in the box has an average cost of $5.

How do I buy mine chest

Hello,

I subscribed to this thinking that it was as advertised and going to be a cool Minecraft box with items inside. Somehow after opting into everything I ended up with a Minecraft T-shirt subscription? I have never once received a box.

I’m very confused how that even happened as I followed links and was not aware that the Minecraft t-shirt only subscription was a thing. For the past 3 months, my son has received a shirt and a pin.

Anyone have an idea how to actually subscribe to the Minecraft box subscription?

Unfortunately, I am not impressed with the contents as it definitely leaves something to be desired. Throw in a blind bag or something my gosh. Loot crate was definitely better and you received more for the price. I feel like my son is getting jipped and that’s very disappointing. He will get his promised four boxes but then we are done with this sub box.

My 10-yr old squealed in excitement when this box finally came – they have had to be SO patient. He is happy, but I was a bit let down – this was not nearly as good as it was when loot crate was doing it. The boxes are smaller….and there are fewer items, yet the cost is still higher! Hoping they get their act together and make it worth the value, but who am I kidding – I know I will still order it for my son : )

I have to say, that thought crossed my mind also. They usually include all this stuff plus a toy, right?

the value is not that high I agree but , my 8 year old daughter screamed in happiness when she got her first box
Loves every single item ! so yes it is worth it .
I told her that it is a part of her Christmas gift…. her knowing it is a Christmas gift that will keep on giving, makes it that much more exciting.
When a child appreciates what is given it makes it worth it too

Funny you said introvert box, since they charged us in August but didn’t ship until 9/11… Very disappointed in shipping as they were supposed to ship in July, then delayed until the end of August and we see that it shipped the middle of September. I have written them about my disappointment.
SN: I miss the post cards, I’m assuming it was exclusive to Loot Crate, so they’re no longer doing them?
