The Mr. Collection is a monthly clothing rental subscription for men. Your stylist puts a pack together based on your style profile and you keep it for as long as you like. When you are done wearing those pieces you send them back in the included pre-paid envelope. You have the option of buying any item at a special member discount price just in case you can’t bear to part with it.
The Mr. Collection has recently revamped its service model to better serve its customers. If you’re a current subscriber and haven’t done so, update your style profile now.
The Mr. Collection has several different plans to best fit your needs. They also have The Ms. Collection for women.
This is the review for The Mr. Collection Premium Once a Month plan, which sends 4 items for $69 per month (plus free shipping).
Each pack will include pieces of quality, designer, casual and business clothing for your everyday look. When you sign up, you answer questions about your style (size, colors, patterns, clothing type, etc.). An actual stylist puts your pack together so, even though your pieces are a surprise, they should work for you. You can leave feedback for your stylist to help make your next pack even better.

Our Review
Seasonal transitions tend to be when John struggles the most with his style. This month, his stylist included several options that could work for warm days and (slightly) cooler nights.
The included info card includes a handwritten note from his stylist and the prices and description of each item. This month, he received a pair of twill pants and three tops.
Here’s the first outfit suggestion from Dawn.
Flag & Anthem Scranton Shirt in Blue - Retail Price $49.50, Member Price $39.60
This 100% cotton shirt is just John’s style. It fits well and the lighter color helps balance the darker pants during the day. The fabric is lightweight and has a texture so wrinkles aren’t as obvious. The contrasting details of the “locker loop” and inner collar trim add a touch of refinement. I also appreciate the extra button sewn to the tag.
Mavi Zach Straight Leg in Burgundy Twill - Retail Price $98, Member Price $88.20
These aren’t something that John would have picked for himself at a store, but once he tried them, he loved the style. The color is a great alternative to other neutrals without being loud. The fabric is cotton with 3% elastane so they are soft and have a little stretch to make them comfy. The straight cut looks great on him and the length is perfect for his fall shoes.
For a going out look, Dawn also included this shirt that John can wear with the Mavi pants.
Ben Sherman Long-Sleeve Top in Navy Print - Retail Price $85, Member Price $68
This long sleeve button up is another hit for John. It’s a midweight, 100% cotton with great contrasting details and a subtle pattern. Like the short sleeve shirt, it has extra buttons sewn to the tag. The button-down collar and pleat down the back give this shirt a bit more of a dressed up feel then the previous one. I like that the sleeve length is right for John but it’s much more likely that he’d roll the sleeves up. It looks sharp with the color of the pants too!
Tailor Vintage Pocket Tee in Nantucket Red Top - Retail Price $38, Member Price $30.40
This tee is giving me major nautical vibes. The cotton fabric has a bit of spandex so it’s really stretchy and soft. The dotted chambray pocket and interior piping gives it some visual interest and shows me that it is really well constructed. The faded red color isn’t my favorite on John because it washes him out a little, but I think this would be a keeper if it were in the blue family.
About Returns:
Each pack includes a pre-paid return envelope. When you are done with your pieces, just pop them in here and drop it off at the post office. The Mr. Collection will process your return and you’ll be ready to go for your next pack. (If you are purchasing anything, just leave them out of your return package.)
A note about cleaning: You don’t have to clean the pieces before sending them back. The Mr. Collection has everything cleaned once the pieces are returned. I didn’t notice any smell (including fragranced detergent which is good for those with sensitive skin), stains, or signs of wear. Actually, everything was in pristine condition!
The Verdict: This month, John found a pair of pants he loves and enjoyed having a few shirts included that pair well with them. The only item that he wasn’t crazy about was the tee, but everything else was spot on for him. One big draw for him is that he gets to wear clothing that is high quality but that is out of our normal price range. Just this pack alone was worth $270.50, and for a cost of $69 with free shipping, I think it is a great deal. Plus, The Mr. Collection customer service is fantastic! The stylists are eager to help and I encourage any subscriber to reach out if you have any questions.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? The Mr. Collection picks clothing for you based on your style preferences so your pack will be different than John's. Sign up and see what they choose for you!
Value Breakdown: Since this is a clothing rental service, the value really comes from being able to change up and try new looks every month. Since there is no way John would spend this amount to buy clothes at this retail value for himself, it’s great for him to be able to wear high-end clothing for a flat rate. There is always the option to buy an item for a discounted price if you love it. Basically here is what he paid to rent each item for the month (based on retail price):
- Flag & Anthem Scranton Shirt in Blue - $12.63
- Mavi Zach Straight Leg in Burgundy Twill - $25
- Ben Sherman Long-Sleeve Top in Navy Print - $21.68
- Tailor Vintage Pocket Tee in Nantucket Red Top - $9.69
