August 2018 #curated VNYL Review

Each month, you'll get to select from a set of vibes - none of the vibes were really speaking to me, so I went for the entirely curated option for August and received 3 albums from 3 bands that I've never listened to!

It comes with a handwritten note from your personal curator to give some thought and detail behind the selections.

Happy Little Trees - We Are Little

I went into this month without any ideas about the music in my shipment. Happy Little Trees' album would eventually turn out to be my favorite of the bunch!

You'll even get a bonus single 7-inch record!

That pressing is beautiful! The music ranges from poppy to garage rock - sometimes in the same song. Go Slowly was my standout song from the bunch - but I pretty much enjoyed it all.

Diamond Youth - Nothing Matters

This was pitched as a 90's rock sound on the little info card - I didn't get a ton of that from this, maybe more along the lines of that 90's pop rock sound.

While I wasn't super into the album - I did think the pressing was just awesome!

The Happy Fits - Concentrate

The final item features cello! It's The Happy Fits' 2018 album Concentrate.

This month had a little bit of a pop theme to the choices. This is actually their debut album - they had previously been a cover band. Overall, it was fine, but probably not something that I'd listen to again.

Verdict: This month was a bit of a trust fall that didn't necessarily pay off. I like discovering new music, and sometimes the #curated option is best to do that - but it doesn't always pay off!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? This subscription is customized to your music preferences. While you may select the same 'vibe' as me, you likely won't receive the same three albums as I do.
