ZaaBox "We’re Mint to Be..." August 2018 Review
Enclosed in the box is an info card describing the products and the product ingredients.
Each month the founder Mr. Strong sends a handwritten note, which leaves me blushing.
Pontie Wax-Soy Candle-4oz - Retail Value $10.00
This lovely soy candle in garden mint was hand-poured with love in Brooklyn, New York. The candle burned while I typed this review and the aroma was faint. The aroma of the candle reminded me of mint and eucalyptus.
Body B Silk Mint Face Serum, 2oz - Estimated Value $10.00
I was unable to find the product info on the face serum; this box is notorious for sending products without the manufactures label and with little info on the product. The face serum was minty, and it reminded me of the sea breeze for some reason. The face serum is intended to use as a face oil, and it consists of organic olive, apricot, tea tree, grapeseed, and spearmint oils, plus vitamin E. I mixed a small amount with my moisturizer and applied it to my face. I may have applied too much of the product; my face looked oily, I then massaged the product some more on my face, and that seemed to help. I don’t use facial oils that much so this will last me for a while.
Mattie + Daisy Tea Time Facial Mask- 2oz - Retail Value $8.00
The mask that I linked above has different ingredients listed on the website than on the packaging, it says it’s a clay mask, but on the list of ingredients, clay is not there. I don’t think the mask I received is the same mask I linked even though it’s similar product name, on the jar it says, “Tea Time Facial Mask” and on the website, “Tea Time Mask.” I wanted to bring this to your attention as there seems to be a discrepancy. And now on to how the product worked. I applied the mask on to my face after cleansing and toning and left on for six minutes. This mask intends to aid in anti-aging but still not sure since clay and other ingredients are missing from the ingredient list on the jar which differs from the website. The mask tingled a bit but the sensation quickly dissipated. There was no significantly noticeable difference to my skin just a clean face.
Tasha Hussey Body-Grapefruit Mint Loofah Soap, Full Size - Retail Value $8.00
I received a full-size bar of soap infused with a loofah in the scent grapefruit-mint. The loofah is on one side of the bar of soap the other side is smooth. This soap exfoliated my skin while leaving a minty aroma and it was lathering.
From Tasha Hussey Body:
Pink grapefruit peppermint loofah soap is made from 100% vegetable based kosher certified glycerin. Scented with grapefruit, peppermint and a hint of mandarin. This luxurious grapefruit soap will leave your skin feeling soft and smelling citrus fresh. The loofah sponge is slightly exposed on one side of the soap. Loofa's are a great member of the squash family and when dried is a great way to exfoliate dead skin. Exfoliation of our dead skin layer is necessary so our moisturizers can penetrate and do their job with our skin. Each bar of grapefruit soap is 3 x 3 inches and 1.25 inch thick. All pigment is vegetable based. You will receive one loofah soaps. These peppermint soaps are unisex. All packaging is eco-friendly. Handmade grapefruit mint soap is 6.0 to 6.6 ounces
Phillip Ashley Chocolates - Estimated Value $10.00 (buy a 12-piece box for $49)
I received a small box with two square shape chocolates, in the flavor “Peppermint Crème.” The dark chocolate has a minty cream filling that melted in my mouth and it was delicious. The chocolates were handcrafted in small batches using the finest ingredients with fair trade chocolate. I didn’t find this particular set of chocolate on their website, so the value is an estimate.
The Verdict: Another enjoyable box and they continue to pamper me monthly as well as leaving me blushing from the handwritten note from Mr.Strong. This month’s ZaaBox was slightly lower in value than last month’s box, but I’m still waiting for that “hero” item and much higher value from their boxes. There is no indicator of what their boxes will value, and it says it will send luxurious, pampering products from a black-owned business which they have fulfilled and five full-size products which they have not fulfilled as stated on the first page of their website. This month's items, as usual, left me pampered.I enjoyed the mint theme and the aroma of mint from the various products I received. I have received products that have indulged my senses, but I can’t get over the low value of the products which has been deluxe size items that fit the low price point. I’m hoping for a better value. The box does a good job at promoting black-owned business which I like about this subscription.
