The Holo Hookup October 2018 “Things That Go Bump In The Night” Review
Just a heads up, this subscription does not come with an info sheet. All of the value estimates are from what a different holographic polish from the brand would cost. Also, holographic polishes are notoriously difficult to photograph. I did my best, but I promise you that all of the polishes look even better in person.
Cupcake Polish in Goosebumps, 15 mL – Estimated Value $13 (this is an exclusive shade made just for The Holo Hookup, but check out other holographic polishes from Cupcake Polish here)
The title alone brings the nostalgia - I was a big fan of reading the Goosebumps books when I was a kid, and more than a few seriously scared me! There's nothing scary about this gorgeous black holo with green shimmer, and when the sunlight hits just right you get a gorgeous hint of a rainbow. The formula was easy to work with and I had no issues with application.
Different Dimension in Sleep With One Eye Open, 15 mL – Estimated Value $11 (this is an exclusive shade made just for The Holo Hookup, but check out other holographic polishes from Different Dimension here)
This is a blue-purple linear holo that also hides some rainbow shimmer depending on how the light hits. Different Dimension polishes always have a stellar formula, and this was no exception.
Glisten & Glow in Everyday Monsters Under My Bed, 15 mL – Estimated Value $12 (this is an exclusive shade made just for The Holo Hookup. Check out the other polishes offered by Glisten & Glow here)
Yassss, I am so happy we got a bright holo orange in the October box! Not only is it bright orange but it also has green-gold shimmer, and surprisingly I only needed two coats for full opacity.
Emily de Molly in The Last Stand, 15 ml – Estimated Value $11 (this is an exclusive shade made just for The Holo Hookup. Check out the other polishes offered by Emily de Molly here)
The Last Stand is a bright grass green holo with gold shimmer, and this is a color that I think works well for Halloween but also for St. Patrick’s Day (or spring in general!). This was a new brand to me, but I had no issues with formula and I had full opacity in two coats.
Here is the nail art this month- I am stoked that I was able to use all four polishes! I did a freehand pumpkin, and since I layered the orange over the different dimension polish the orange looks less bright than the swatch.
Here is the nail art in direct sunlight, where the holo really shines!
