Loot Anime, part of the Loot Crate family, is a “monthly mystery bundle of figures, collectibles, manga, apparel, accessories and more from some of your favorite anime and manga series with a new theme every month.”
This box is arriving late after a long delay. Unfortunately, that's been the case for a lot of Loot Anime boxes lately. I hope they get back on track ASAP!
Turn the box inside out, and it becomes a collector's piece!

Loot Anime "Defend" August 2018 Review
Loot Anime includes a poster in lieu of an info card. There's a product list with photos of each item on the back. This month, the poster is Astro Boy themed.
Exclusive Space Dandy T-Shirt
Loot Anime's t-shirts are reliably pretty cool. This heather gray tee is 90% cotton, 10% polyester blend. It's not as soft as I'd like, but I get the feeling that a few washes will loosen it up. The graphic has a vintage quality to it that makes it feel a little like a retro band tee.
Exclusive Astro Boy T-Shirt
I got a second tee this month! It also shares that vintage quality of the Space Dandy tee. This one is 100% cotton but has the same somewhat scratchy feeling.
Exclusive Rising of the Shield Hero Pin
Each box comes with a pin like this one that looks like the design of a manga cover. I'm not wild about the pin (a more unique design—not just a simple rectangle—would be more my thing), but I do think it's cool that the pin unlocks the first 6 chapters of the Rising of the Shield Hero for free on the Loot Crate website!
Exclusive Evangelion Fitness Towel
I love Evangelion, and Rei is the coolest. I definitely never imagined I'd see her on a fitness towel! There's no material label on the towel, but it has a microfiber feeling to it. I'll definitely feel cool pulling this out of my gym bag!
Loot Crate Edition Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online Manga Vol. 1
I know Sword Art Online, but this series is new to me! I like that they include manga in this box, as it helps me discover new content to delve into. I kind of wish the "specialness" of the Loot Crate edition was a little more special. According to the poster, it's just the cover.
The Verdict: These shipping delays are suuuuch a drag! I thought the items in this box were pretty cool and nice quality, but the shipping issues make it hard to get too excited about the subscription box. And while on one hand, it's cool that there were two tees in the box, I also wish the assortment was a little more diverse. The t-shirt, manga, pin combo has appeared in most of the recent boxes, so I'd love to shake that up a little bit, too.
