Each month you’ll receive a mix of full-size and sample size products from the natural brands featured on LoveLula’s website. It seems that about 5 items is the norm.

LoveLula Beauty Box September 2018 Review
This month’s box features 4 full-size items and 1 packet sample set:
Each box comes with a card detailing the brands and products included plus a 20% off code to use towards purchasing products from the included brands.
Kathleen Natural Tonifying Mist, 150ml - Retail Value $30.25 (£23)
I loooovvee facial mists, especially in the winter when I feel like my face is cracking by lunchtime and needs a moisture boost. Glycerin is the second ingredient, which makes it very hydrating, and chamomile water gives it a soothing quality and a light scent. I'd love for the mist to be a little finer for over-makeup applications. The rich, organic formula is suitable for all skin types, but I think normal to dry skin would benefit most since it may be too heavy for oily skin.
The Castilian Soap Company Liquid Soap, 250ml/8.8 fl.oz - Retail Value $10.52 (£8)
I've recently begun exploring all of the ways to use castile soap, so I'm happy to see a convenient pump style bottle included. This castile soap is more jelly-like than the Dr. Bronner's versions that I've been trying. It's a lot easier to use as a hand wash this way since it stays where you squirt it rather than dripping through your fingers. It leaves my skin feeling fresh and clean but not dry. This is the fragrance-free version (so it's great for sensitive skin and face) but they have a few different scented versions too.
Inika Loose Mineral Blush in Blooming Nude, 3g/.11oz - Retail Value $30.25 (£23)
This blush is a natural makeup junkies dream. It's vegan, cruelty-free, certified organic, and free of fillers, fragrances, and basically anything but pigment. The formula is soft and light and this shade is a bronzy-nude that gives me a little flush as if I've been in the sun. I find that the color is buildable and I only need a tiny bit for my skin tone, but it clings to flaky areas a little. The price is higher than I normally would pay for blush, but I think this jar could last years.
Macho & Bling Face Scrub, 30ml/1 fl.oz - Retail Value $8.55 (£6.50)
This is a new brand for LoveLula and, not only does it fit LoveLula's stringent standards, but they seem to offer smaller product amounts at very affordable price points. They're also a unisex company and use essential oils to scent their product range. This scrub has a creamy base and small bits of pumice that are gritty but not abrasive. I like that the pumice doesn't dissolve (like sugar) but is still safe for the environment. It smells of fresh grapefruit and leaves my skin feeling smoothed and fresh.
John Masters Sample Set - Retail Value $2.56 (LoveLula sells sample packets for 64¢ each)
I'm really excited that all of these products are silicone-free (as far as I can tell) except for the hair milk which contains amodimethicone. I try to follow the CG method and avoid silicones. The also all contain multiple proteins which can be great to help repair damaged hair.
• Evening Primrose Shampoo for Dry Hair - A gentle shampoo for dry or damaged hair. Leaves hair clean but not striped.
• Lavender & Avocado Intensive Conditioner - Intense, silicone-free conditioner perfect for hydrating curly hair.
• Citrus & Neroli Detangler - Great for conditioning fine hair after cleansing. Also makes a great leave-in for thicker hair.
• Rose & Apricot Hair Milk - A light leave-in treatment that helps smoothe and moisturize hair. It doesn't seem to be strong enough for my frizzy, thick hair.
The Verdict: I'm happy with the variety in this month's LoveLula Beauty Box. Each of the skincare products works well for my skin and the blush is a good, clean makeup product. I'm also glad to have samples of some John Masters hair products to test out since I've never tried them before. I like knowing that every product from LoveLula is ingredient conscious and comes from brands that are environmentally and socially responsible. It is also very easy to look up the ingredients on the site. This box has a value of $82.13 plus free shipping which I think is a win for a cost of just under $25. Though being outside of the UK makes this box a little more costly for me, I think the curation of products rigorously vetted for their effectiveness, sustainability, quality, and policies against animal testing make it worth it.
The Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, if you sign up today your first box will be the November box.
Value Breakdown: The box cost about $23.01, and I estimate that a total of $82.13 was received. That means I'm spending approximately the following on each item:
- Kathleen Natural Tonifying Mist - $8.48
- The Castilian Liquid Soap - $2.95
- Inika Mineral Blush - $8.48
- Macho & Bling Face Scrub - $2.40
- John Masters Samples - $0.72
