Luxe Box Fall 2018 Review
MaskerAide Rosé All Day Rose Gold Peel Off Mask - Retail Value $5.40 USD ($7 CAD)
I thought this was a sheet mask until I ripped open the package at home which revealed 2 pink bottle-shaped pouches. I tore one open and squeezed out the pink metallic goop and proceeded to slather on my face. It was super metallic and even SMELLED like rosé, which was cool and off-putting at the same time. Normally, peel-off masks dry within 20 minutes, but I made the mistake of wearing this one into the tub while I took a bath which allowed it to stay too moist on my face and rob me of the peeling-pleasure. Glad I have a second pouch to have another go at it!
The Beauty Crop Eyeshadow Trio in Love U So Latte - Estimated Retail Value $10.00 (similar found here)
This little trio is rather nice for Fall. It has three shades in which two are shimmery (Vanilla Latte and French Roast) while one is matte (Midnight Blend). This can be easily used to get a really complete look on your eyes from lids to upper brow bones. The pigment is impressive and I especially love the soft bronze color to highlight.
Pure Illumination Hydrating Lip Gloss in Crazin Raisin - Estimated Retail Value $20.00 (similar found here)
This is WILD. I've never seen a lipstick that has its own built-in light that automatically goes on when you open it up! It also has a mirror on the side so you can reapply this dark reddish-brown shade no matter where you are. The car at night? The dark club? You're all set. While I personally did find it a little tough to see what was happing with the LED pointed right at my mouth, I'm sure it just takes getting used to. This gloss is thick and is packed with a ton of sparkle so even though it's sheer, you can build it up. It also smells super sweet, like candy!
Revlon Professional Style Masters Modular Medium Hold Hair Spray, 75 ml
It's super rare that I use hairspray but sometimes there are events I need to attend and make my fly-aways chill out. This little travel size bottle of medium hold spray will come in handy for those times. I can't say how well this holds up since I have very little to compare it to and only use it to try and smooth things out, rather than hold them up, but it seemed pretty standard.
Nude By Nature Natural Glow Loose Bronzer in Bondi Bronze, 2 g - Estimated Retail Value $4.79 (buy 10 g for $23.94)
I have to say that while these products all seem great, I am kind of striking out with things I actually normally use. I'm super pale and prefer to keep it that way, so I don't like to use much bronzer or do contouring. I try to keep my makeup products to a minimum so this powder probably won't make it to my normal routine. This medium-nude color has a peachiness to it so it does actually compliment my skin tone but has a super fine sparkle in it that I don't normally go for. If I need a warmer glow though, this would certainly do the trick without looking too heavy.
Beautanio Beauty Fill + Tame Brow Gel - Retail Value $12.00
Here we go- this is a product I can get down with. While the name says this is a tinted brow gel, the bottom actually says it's clear, which is preferred. I used to have wild thick eyebrows when I was a teenager and it saddens me that social pressure made me start messing with that natural thickness in my early 20s. While I didn't go too extreme like a lot of women did with tweezing, my brows will never be how they were. They are still pretty thick though and need some taming from time to time. I got into filling in my eyebrows about 5 years ago maybe and while I don't always use a gel to hold them in place, I see the benefit in adding another product to the regiment to keep things on fleek. I love the color and size of this item and the tiny spoolie brush makes it really easy to manage and use.
Morgan Taylor Nail Lacquer in Now You See Me - Retail Value $5.95
I don't usually go for metallics of sparkles, but this polish is amazing. I love the deep brown and silver colors and it goes on super thick. I only needed one coat for the nail above! This color really elevates things and gives my nails more dimension which mesmerizes me and tricks me into gazing at them for minutes at a time.
Here are swatches for the eyeshadow trio, bronzer, and lip gloss.
Verdict: I think this season's Luxe Box has a good value for delivering over $58.14 worth of product for only $26.00 but this one fell a bit flat for me personally. The brow gel, masks, and polish were my faves, but bronzer, lip gloss, and hairspray aren't items I have much use for, so I'll be passing them on to friends.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? It's a little hard to tell. They have an "Editor's Box" option in which a special box ships to you immediately if you subscribe in between seasons and don't want to wait. Best to reach out to their customer care to find out when you'd recieve your first.
Value Breakdown: At $26.00 for this box, you're paying about $3.71 per item.
