Mama & Baby is a monthly subscription box that is described as a motherhood starter kit for $20/month plus free shipping. Each box will contain an assortment of items for both mama and baby such as bags, lactation treats, onesies or bibs. When you sign up they ask for your baby’s age (in ranges; 0-24 months) and what type of milk (breastfeeding, formula or none).

This is a review of the ages 0-6 months, breastfeeding Mama & Baby box.

This month our box was a bit different since we received a large fragile item, but I love how the black box fits nicely with the Halloween theme!

This box was sent to us at no cost for review purposes. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Mama & Baby October 2018 Review

World Market Trick or Treat Yo' Self Tankard Mug - Retail Value $6.99

How perfect is this mug? I love the matte black finish on it and how huge it is! It holds 20 oz. so mommy can get that much needed extra large cup of coffee in the morning! This is also dishwasher safe which is a huge plus as a lot of my favorite mugs are handwash only, which is just not as fun. My favorite part of this mug though is the phrase, "Trick or Treat Yo' Self." I think that Donna and Tom from Parks & Rec would approve.

Good Day Chocolate Calm Supplement, 8 ct. box - Buy a pack of 6, 48 count, for $17.99

These chocolate supplements contain a special blend of chamomile flower extract and L-theanine to provide mom with a little bit of calm for her day. They are made with fair-trade chocolate and non-GMO ingredients. They also partner with charity Smile Train which is committed to repairing cleft palates.

These are basically like large M & M's and were pretty tasty! I love this little chart that helps you decide how much calm you need in your life. This is definitely a fun and tasty way to achieve it!

Beverly and 3rd Candle Co. Perfume Oil Sample in Lilac and Cotton - Retail Value $2.25

I am not a big perfume wearer, but this perfume oil is a bit different. It feels a bit more subtle to me and the lilac and cotton scent smells so fresh. This sample size is just enough for me to use when I need to freshen up a bit without committing to a whole bottle!

Milkmakers Lactation Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookie Bites - Buy 10 packs for $22

These cookies have ingredients that help support your breast milk supply. As a nursing mom, I was happy to check these out. They are definitely not as good as the homemade cookies I have made before, but they are not terrible. They have a bit of a funky taste from the Brewer's Yeast, which is one of the main ingredients that help support milk production. A serving size is one to two bags per day and they say that most moms noticed results within a week. Since I only have one bag, I can't speak to their effectiveness, but if you are really looking to boost your supply, this is a somewhat tasty and convenient way to do it!

Spooky Miniature Kit Kats - Buy a 36-ounce bag for $10.44

Kit Kats are one of my favorites so these little miniatures are a great Halloween-themed treat for me!

Arrow Pacifier Clip - Estimated Value $5

The last item in our box is a little something for baby. There was no branding on this and prices for these are all over the place, so I went somewhere in the middle. I have paid as little as $3 and as much as $8 before, personally, so I think this is a fair median value. We use pacifier leashes like these for our various pacifiers around the house. They are convenient and help us find them much easier when they inevitably roll under the couch! I love the cute, gender-neutral design of this one and the clip is a heavy-duty metal and plastic one with a secure grip to attach it to baby's clothes or bib.

Verdict: I love this month's Halloween-themed Mama & Baby box. It wasn't over the top with the theme, but just subtle enough to celebrate my favorite holiday! That mug is amazing and definitely my favorite item in the box. Everything else was a great mix of items that can support mommy while they are parenting whether it's through helping their mood with the chocolates to boosting their milk supply with the cookies. This box costs $20, including free shipping, and I am estimating the total value to be about $23.70 for this box. This seems pretty low this month, but I think that some of the value probably comes from shipping the mug which is quite heavy. While it might not be worth it to everyone this month, the value is usually much higher, so I don't mind a lower value box this month if it means I get that awesome mug!

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, you will receive next month’s box. From Mama & Baby:

All Boxes are packed and shipped between the 2nd- 4th.

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!

I love those Lactation Cookie Bites and am about to open mine now. I do eat them regularly and can honestly say they have boosted my milk supply! While the cost is a bit on the high end, they are worth it. And they are so delicious!

I’d be wary of any supplements that aren’t approved for pregnancy or breastfeeding.

I was surprised that the Good Day Chocolate Calm Supplement states not to take it if you are breast feeding, but also sends cookies to help with lactation.

I was surprised by that, too! I think it’s just that it hasn’t really been studied enough by the FDA for approval so it might just be a general warning. Sort of like the kind they have on herbal teas, if that makes sense!
