Norlii Scandinavian Home and Lifestyle Box September/October Review
Norlii comes with a couple of info cards. One just has a photo on one side and a short description with their website and hashtag on the other.
The other info card has the theme (this month is Velvære which is the Danish word for "well-being") and a little about the collection.
The other side lists the items with a description of each and their approximate value.
Marimekko Striped Hand Towel - Retail Value $29.00
Oh my word, I LOVE THIS. I love stripes, I love black and grey, and I LOVE Marimekko! The Finnish design house has been around since 1951 and has some of the best textiles I've ever seen. I once went to their flagship store in NYC and was in full heaven. This size is referred to as a "hand towel" but is much larger than the hand towels I have in my bathroom, although it is much too small for a bath towel. It's ridiculously soft and fluffy and I just cannot wait to use it! Now I may have to buy the rest of the set online...
Ferm Living Sekki Cup and Salt Jar Set in Curry
Ferm Living Sekki Cup in Curry - Retail Value $20.00
This sturdy little cup is unglazed so it has a slightly raw texture but I just love the "curry" color it came in. Ferm Living is a brand I have known about for quite some time but I've never purchased anything from the Copenhagen-based company. That means I'm really excited to not just get one but two pieces from them in this box. Although this cup can be used for anything from tea to a container for small items, Norlii has sent it as a toothbrush holder. How absolutely perfect.
Sekki Salt Jar in Curry - Retail Value $15.00
The second piece is named a "salt jar" but again, Norlii has envisioned it as a trinket holder for the bathroom or bedside table. I'm not exactly sure what I'll use it for but the matching curry color is still delighting me. It's about 3 inches in diameter and only an inch in depth although it stands slightly taller from its base. Perfect for it's intended use as a salt jar but tempting to use elsewhere.
Hay Time Medium Hourglass in Gold - Retail Value $19.00
Just last week, my friend Kelly and I were at the Carnegie Museum of Art and she picked up a similar hourglass to this one and commented on it. Sometimes that's how the subscription box world works. It produces items that I just thought about and delivers them to my home. Strange, right? This hourglass is a 15-minute timer you can use to take some time for yourself to read, meditate, or take a short break during the hectic day (or night). The sand inside is a beautiful gold color which doesn't show up as well as I'd like in the photos but is quite shimmery.
Suztain Bamboo Toothbrush in Yellow - Estimated Retail Value $2.41 USD
Ahhh this is great. I've been wanting to try a recycled plastic or bamboo toothbrush for a while now. I love the pop of yellow in the bristles here. What a cheery color to brush with! The head of this toothbrush is a lot larger than I'm used to though so I'm not sure this is the right size for me but I'll probably give it a whirl anyhow.
Day Gweneth Mini Pouch in Saffron by Day Birger et Mikkelsen - Retail Value $22.95
The final item is a really sleek looking golden pouch with black faux leather trim and a small white label with the brand name. This toiletry case is not only a great addition to the collection but also matches the colors of the other items. I love that attention to detail! The inside of the pouch is black so if your makeup gets messy you won't ruin it. At 8.5 inches wide by 6 inches high, this is the perfect way to tote toiletries for an overnight trip.
Verdict: I really enjoyed my first Norlii box filled with beautifully designed items that are a perfect fit for my bathroom. I loved each piece chosen and this home subscription is RIGHT up my alley with its minimal design. Scandinavia is probably the number one place I'd like to visit, so this box is bringing me a lot of joy. This time I got six items that total about $108.36 which exceeds the cost by over $30.00. The best part is discovering new items I normally wouldn't find in Pittsburgh.
