Fall 2018 Obviously Chic Box Subscription Review
Let's see, I'm already super impressed with how pretty the box is, which is a great start. This fall edition includes some cozy items to keep me warm as the weather changes. Let's see what's in here:
An info card with a description of the items and a reminder to post on social for a chance to win a free box is included.
Wood Flame Candles "Absolutely Autumn" Soy Candle, 6oz
Anyone here like to watch ASMR videos? If so, you'll love this candle (if not, you should look it up). I grew up with a wood burning fireplace and miss the sounds of a crackling fire and the scent of charred wood. This candle is a little reminder of those things with the added scents of cinnamon apples. These candles are handmade in Canada and include a handy candle care guide.
"Feed Me & Tell Me I'm Pretty" Socks
Oops! I guess these socks should be reversed in the photo...but either way, this is a true representation of my life. I'm pretty much always in need of snacks and compliments from John. 🙂 Not only is the writing on the bottom a signal to him it's also a bit grippy so I won't fall when on a 'snack adventure' in the middle of the night. Cute and practical!
Daisy Mae "Let's Get Cozy" Tee
Now that I'm working at home a lot, I find I need more comfy clothes that I can easily layer. I love long, slouchy tees that I can wear with my leggings, and this one is just that. It's cool and stretchy with fabric made of 95% rayon and 5% spandex. The crew neckline makes it comfortable for lounging in but is also practical for running errands without worrying about cleavage. The sleeves have a permanent cuff which gives this tee a little character, aside from the cozy, inviting script written on the front.
Daisy Mae "Pancakes Please" Sweater
If I get chilly in my tee, or I want pancakes, all I need to do is throw on this lightweight tunic sweatshirt. The 60% polyester, 35% cotton, 5% spandex fabric is fitted, but stretchy, and the perfect weight for layering over or under other pieces. The length is great for leggings because it completely covers my butt. My favorite part is that the inside is a terry cloth weave and not fuzzy like most other sweatshirts. The hot pink "Pancakes Please" script is printed in hot pink. I just wish it said "Waffles" instead...
Red & Black Plaid Blanket Scarf
Another perfect layering piece for cool weather is this big blanket scarf. There isn't a tag but I assume it's made of acrylic and probably machine washable on a delicate cycle. It's super soft and fuzzy without being excessively linty. And, it's BIG. Big enough to wear as a generous wrap scarf, as a shawl, or to use as a blanket in a pinch. The colors are perfect for college football season too since we are a Gamecocks/Crimson Tide family.
Verdict: I'm feeling so warm and fuzzy in all of my cute sayings and warm layers. I think the curation is great for this Obviously Chic Box. I got a home item, some fashion accessories, and some apparel all with the distinct feeling of fall. The packaging is beautiful too. $79 might be a little much for me to spend on myself monthly, but since this is a quarterly subscription, I think the treat is worth it. It would also make a wonderful gift since it will show up at the recipient's door looking great in the box it ships in.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, if you sign up now you'll receive the Winter (December 20th) box as your first box.
Value Breakdown: At $79 for this box, each item averaged out to $15.8. Since some items were most likely less in value than others, I'm just using that as an oversimplified breakdown to give you an idea.
