TokiBox September 2018 "Back to Basics" Review
TokiBox includes a card describing the monthly theme. On the reverse is a list of what's included with the retail values. This month's theme is Back to Basics. I definitely cut loose this summer, so resetting my routine certainly seems to be a good idea!
Reusable Produce / NutMylk Bag — Retail Value $5.25, Listed Value $3.94
I have been trying to majorly cut down on my plastic waste, so this little bag is a welcomed addition to my life. According to the card, these bags come in multiple sizes. This one is 6" x 6" with a sturdy feeling drawstring. I'm a little bummed that it was not one of the bigger ones, but I still think it will come in handy at the grocery store.
Vegan Rob's Spinach and Matcha Chips, 2 oz. — Buy a 5 oz. bag for $3.79
I went vegan a little over a year ago. It's not been quite as hard as I feared it might be, but it can still be a challenge. These chips are super crunchy and yummy tasting. At the end of the day, these are still potato chips so I'm not sure if the "healthy" label is entirely true. However, they are non-GMO and gluten-free so it's definitely an indulgence I can feel pretty good about!
Energy Cleanser Sage Bundle — Listed Retail Value $10.00
I have to say, I love doing sage cleanses of my home. For me, smudging is a ritual I perform to mark (sometimes painful) endings and welcome new beginnings. This 4.5" x 1"(ish) bundle is so delicate and pretty, and it smells ah-mazing. I can't wait to usher some positive juju into my life!
Roses N Rosé Rosie Cheek Scrub, 8oz — Retail Value $18.95
Comprised simply of coffee grounds, coconut oil, vitamin E, and rosehip oil, this is a seriously gritty scrub! It's suggested that using 2-3 times per week will reduce cellulite and stretch marks. I tested it on my hands and they did feel nice, soft, and not at all greasy afterward. If you love coffee, you'll love the aroma. If you don't, well, you might not. I definitely do, so this will be a nice scrub in my mug--I mean tub!
Cooper Cup Red Latte Mix, 10 servings – Listed Value $29.99 (buy 20 servings for $31.99)
I have never had (or even heard of!) a red latte before so this was a pleasant surprise. The ingredients include beets, raspberries, cayenne pepper, ginger, vanilla, and coconut milk. It's said to have loads of healing properties including reducing inflammation and increasing circulation. In addition to tasting delicious, it claims to be an aphrodisiac. I'll let you know about that later... maybe.
Vanilla Bean and Espresso Granola, 2 oz. — Listed Value $5.99 (buy a 4-pack for $9.99)
Remember how I said if you like coffee, you'll love the scrub in this box? Well, take that coffee affinity and multiply it by 100 and you'll have a good chance of enjoying this snack. Again, I do love my morning Joe, so this was a good treat for me. It's grain, wheat, and gluten-free, vegan, and non-GM) with inclusions of dates, walnuts, cashews, seeds, and fair trade espresso. Perfect for when you hit that 3pm wall!
The Verdict: I really like the variety of products included in the Tokibox this month! The red latte seems like such a decadent treat, and I'm very excited to get "back to basics" with an energy reset in my home courtesy of the sage bundle. Using a combo of retail values and list prices where retail values weren't available, the contents of this box add up to an estimated total of $70.18. I think this month's box is a great value for $34.95, including free shipping.
