YumeTwins October 2018 “Magical Halloween” Review
You’ll receive a booklet with information on each item, contests, and kawaii culture – and don’t worry, this information is also available online!
The theme for the month is “Magical Halloween.” Halloween just so happens to be my very favorite holiday, so let’s see what tricks and treats are in store!
Studio Ghibli Cup
What better way to kick off a Halloween box than with an adorable black cat? The origins of this piece are super-interesting! Jiji, the black cat is a character from Kiki’s Delivery Service, a Japanese film that was released in Japan late 1988 by Studio Ghibli, then saw a United States release ten (!) years later through a Disney partnership. It’s about a witch who must learn the skills of her heritage at the age of 13, and - you guessed it - ends up bringing deliveries to people by broomstick. Such a sweet story! This cup is nice and vibrant, and the little Jiji’s are so cute, I don’t mind that it’ll be a hand-wash item (it’s plastic)!
Pokemon Hand Towel Set
I love having little towels like this is in the kitchen - these are the perfect size for pulling out something from the microwave that’s just a smidge too hot! I received the Gengar set, which also included Pikachu and Eevee Pokemon. They’re really cute and I love the bright colors. They’re perfect to tuck away in a drawer, but I wouldn’t be mad if I ended up leaving them out on the counter.
Kawaii Rabbit Plush
Many people I’m sure will have heard of a witch’s familiar, and that’s what this adorable rabbit is supposed to be! Mine’s in their black-tie best; the dark ears and paws remind me of formal wear for some reason! The fur is super-soft, and it’s the perfect size for small hands.
Spirited Away Origami Set
I looove origami - I even had dozens of origami butterflies as decorations at my wedding! This set is almost too pretty to fold! There are four different types of paper in the package, and they’re all so beautifully rendered. I guess I’ll have to watch some tutorials and put these to good use!
Nyanpire Clear File
I’d like to think I’m fairly well-versed in kawaii characters, but this box was my very first introduction to Nyanpire! I am obsessed with this little cutie, dear readers because Nyanpire is a black cat who becomes a vampire. I can’t decide whether to squeal from the cuteness or squeal from the coolness! I’ve received other clear folders like this one, but the design, my favorite of the three I could’ve received this month, is so much cooler than anything I could’ve designed myself!
Cute Cat Paw Gloves
The gloves I received this month weren’t actually even pictured in the pamphlet - mine are a pretty dove grey color. I thought this was such a cute way to incorporate elements of a Halloween costume into the box while still giving us an item with a practical application. These will definitely keep my hands warm in my freezing-cold office, and I’ll look adorable at the same time!
Bonus Item: Nyanpire Halloween Stickers
The perfect complement to this month’s clear file are these stickers - I am soooo excited I received another Nyanpire item! I can’t decide if I want to stick these onto a clear phone case, onto my laptop, or just put them under a blotter under my desk, but I definitely want to see them every day.
Verdict: An October box has a lot to live up to, as far as I’m concerned, and this month’s YumeTwins box really delivered the goods! I loved the mini towels, Jiji cup, paw gloves, and I now have a newfound best friend with my discovery of Nyanpire. More than just the items, I’m excited that these items introduced me to some great shows and movies to watch while snuggling with my cat now that the weather is getting colder!
