Bullymake Box is a monthly subscription box for power chewers. You all have heard about (and seen) some of Nyx’s exploits with plush toys from dog subscription boxes so when I heard about this one, I had to sign up immediately. Nyx is definitely a power chewer! You pick your dog’s weight in 10-pound increments so this is a box for an 80-pound dog (Nyx weighs about 84 right now).
My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)
This review is of the Toys-only, 80-pound, $39 a month, box.
About Bullymake Box
The Subscription Box: Bullymake Box
The Cost: $39 a month (save with 3, 6, and 12-month subscriptions)
The Products: Toys and treats specifically tailored for heavy chewing dogs (no plushes). You can also choose a “toys only” box. Because of Nyx’s dietary issues, I went with the “toys only” box. You can also enter specific allergy information in a box on the checkout screen.
Ships to: USA (free!), Canada for $8, and Internationally for an additional cost
Good to know: if you want a toys-only box, you must select that during sign-up. Otherwise, you will get the default box, which does include some treats.
Bullymake Box November 2018 Review
There was something of a Thanksgiving theme this month:
Not all boxes are the same due to the fact that you can choose your dog’s size in 10-pound increments, choose a toys-only box, etc., but there is usually an information card highlighting an item or two from the box.
Real Bacon Barkbone from PetQwerks – Retail Value $15.99
Nyx has had these before and, as it turns out, they’re fine for her IBD. I guess the flavors included don’t aggravate her condition. She thinks this is absolutely wonderful – she chews obsessively until I take it away. It seems to be holding up well. This is a nylon chew that is dishwasher safe.
Pumpkin Pie Slice by Bullymake – Listed Value $18
This is one of the month’s featured toys. You’ll usually get one nylon chew and one rubber toy. Both are thematically-related to the box, overall, and this is obviously appropriate for Thanksgiving (the box was received before Thanksgiving). I was worried Nyx would have a hard time picking this up because it’s flat, but she didn’t have any trouble, and there wasn’t one particularly vulnerable spot so she chewed all over it.
Big Ole’ Turkey by Bullymake – Listed Value $18
And here is the featured rubber toy for the month. Bullymake-branded rubber toys are durable but they’re also safe – notice the second, smaller hole, which helps prevent suction issues if your dog puts his or her tongue inside the toy. Nyx likes these with a bit of peanut butter (and sometimes I put a few Nyx-safe treats inside if I have any on hand at the time). These don’t usually have a chemical smell, either (some rubber toys from other boxes do, so that’s actually something I feel the need to mention).
Nylon Wishbone by Bullymake – Retail Value $18
This is a nylon toy that was featured in a past Bullymake Box. When you get the “toys only” option, you’ll see some past favorites. But, Nyx has no idea they’re the same size and shape as past toys and she’s happy to get new nylon chews, so this was a big winner for her, too.
Here are a few shots of Nyx with the pumpkin pie toy. These nylon chews are the highlight of her month.
Verdict: I calculated a value of $69.99 for the November 2018 Bullymake Box although I did have to take two of those values from the information card. Looking at it a different way, there were four items this month, so they have an average value of about $9.75, which I think is pretty good. For Nyx’s purposes, these toys are appropriate in terms of size and durability, and I appreciate getting so many nylon chews because those are really her favorites. Of course, everyone’s dog will be different, but this box definitely works for us.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, your first shipment would be December's. You can sometimes buy some of the exclusive toys at the Bullymake Shop if something catches your eye (this month’s toys may take a few weeks to get put into the shop). Also, please note there are some box variations here so you may not always receive the same box as Nyx gets, even if you choose the same profile values when you sign up.
Value Breakdown: At $39 for the box, you are paying approximately $9.75 per item. Alternatively, you are paying about the following:
- Barkbone $8.91
- Pumpkin pie $10.03
- Turkey $10.03
- Wishbone $10.03
