Cloth & Paper is a monthly stationery subscription box from lifestyle and stationery shop, Cloth & Paper.
In addition to the Stationery Subscription Box, Cloth & Paper offers a pens-and-pencils-focused subscription called “Penspiration,” a stationery box focused on stationery items and a box combining the two. With the Penspritation and Stationery Box subscription (which I’m reviewing today), you can expect 5-8 stationery items plus 4-6 pens!
This review is of the Cloth & Paper Penspiration and Stationery, $48 a month, box.
My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Our October 2018 Review
Each box comes with a greeting card with a message from Cloth & Paper.
Large Memo Pad
I LOVE this memo pad! I love the thick black border around the edges.
It is printed on thick cardstock and has (just) 20 pages on the pad. It is a really big memo pad too, measuring at 7 inches by 5 inches.
Memo Goals Inbox Cards
When I first saw this item I thought it was a pretty neat idea: mini memo, goals and inbox pads.
But when I took them out of the packaging, I was in for a big shock.
They weren’t pads, they are individual cards! I got 12 goals and inbox cards and 11 memo cards. I like how the goals and inbox cards have open bullet holes to work as a checklist, but I still don’t know how I feel about these being cards; it’s an interesting concept. They are like business cards: printed on cardstock and measuring at 2 ½ inches by 3 inches.
Sticky Notes
Cloth & Paper, you know I love you and your sticky notes, right? I look forward to them every month and every month I get a new set. I really like the way these are set up, it reminds me of a magazine. The side has labeled these the Fall/Winter 2018 Note [edition], Issue No 1, Vol. 2. I didn’t subscribe last year, so was that Vol. 1?
Each sticky is identical, from the barcode on the bottom left corner to the 01 on the top right. There are 16 lines on each one for notes, to-do lists or reminders. This is a pretty big sticky pad with 50 pages. The sticky part is also on the left side instead of the top. It measures at 4 inches by 3 inches.
Merci Beaucoup Cards with Envelopes
This was a first for me in a Cloth & Paper box! I received eight thank you cards in an abstract black and white design. Merci Beaucoup (thank you so much) is in gold foil and the card also features a gold foil line going across the left corner.
The card is paired with a black European style envelope, the perfect canvas for that white inked pen I received last month!
The card measures at 6 inches by 4 inches and, of course, has a blank reverse side for your message.
Kaco Green Your Write Choice Fountain Pen
I was so excited to receive my first fountain pen! It is so sophisticated looking in an ivory barrel with a grey ball on the end of the silver clip. They also sent us with 2 black ink cartridges and one ink cartridge that I can use to refill. I’ve never bought ink before and I must say, I am pretty excited!
I have never written with a fountain pen either and just fell in love with how easy it wrote. I am in love with this pen and am so happy I received one! Side note – it was a bit overwhelming opening the pen and trying to put it together. Yes, I tried to attach the ink cartridge to the ink-filled cartridge, more than once. I finally gave in and Googled how to put together a fountain pen. It would have been nice to receive instructions for fountain pen-newbs but I got it and it was worth it.
The next part of the review is of the Penspiration subscription. Cloth & Paper allows you to subscribe to this on its own or paired with the stationery box. With every Pensipiration subscription, you get this way cool see-through pen/pencil pouch to hold all your fantastic new writing tools!
Each Penspiration subscription sends out 5 new utensils, mostly pens but lately, we have received some mechanical pencils too. This month we received 4 pens, one mechanical pencil, and an eraser!
I was also so happy to see that we received this Test Sheet. They left it out of my sub last month and I was genuinely disappointed. This is such a small detail to a pen/pencil subscription that matters.
Holder Pen 2B Mechanical Pencil
I really want to talk about this pencil! It really looks like a pen! It has a slick black barrel that feels like a pencil due to its shape. It also has a silver grip, clip, and a retractable top.
But the lead is what made me gasp. It’s one of the bigger utensils I have received at 2.0mm.
I was genuinely surprised that it wrote so lightly for being so thick. This is a really great tool for my husband since he does residential survey work and has to do a lot of drawing/sketching.
I also appreciate how it came with 12 refillables.
Zebra Sarasa Pen
I LOVE this pen! It’s a retractable pen that features a white barrel with a blue clip and blue grip. It is a standard size at .05mm.
But the best part? BLUE GEL INK! We receive a ton of black inked pens with Coth & Paper, and while I love them and all the different styles I do wish we received more blue inked pens! I work with legal documents at the office and need to sign documents with blue ink. I hate that I receive all these awesome pens that I can only use for notes.
Chenle Metal Pen
I am not going to lie to you, I wasn’t impressed with this pen at an initial glance and feel. It is pretty thin and just looked mediocre. It’s a .05mm pen that features a light blue metal barrel and has a cap with a black clip.
But when I wrote with this pen, I was blown away. It wrote so smooth and the black gel ink was so black; I instantly fell in love. I learned a valuable lesson today: never judge a pen by its barrel!
Blue Metal Tri-Sided Pen
I really like the color of this pen’s metal barrel – it's so blue! Other than that, it wasn’t impressive and it didn’t wow me. It is a .05mm black inked retractible pen.
I was also unimpressed with the way it wrote. It is very rare to get a pen that doesn’t impress me or that I don’t instantly love, so I wasn’t disappointed because Cloth & Paper always delivers.
Monami Co. Gel Pen
This last pen is one of my favorite pens. It has such a pretty teal barrel and a has a cap. I tend to favor capped pens vs retractible pens. When opened, it features a clear grip.
I expected this pen to write amazing and it absolutely did. It has black gel ink and is .05mm.
Marie’s Triangular Eraser
The last item we received is this eraser, which is great because our Holder Mechanical Pencil did not feature an eraser.
It is your standard eraser, but its shape really makes it easy to grip. I also felt like it required little effort to erase whereas some erasers will really make you work.
Verdict: I really liked the box this month, my favorite votes go to the memo pad and fountain pen. I also really liked the way the Chenle Metal Pen wrote and the way the Monami Co. Gel Pen looked and wrote. And of course, I loved our blue-inked Zebra Sarasa pen. I hope to see more blue-inked pens in the future! It would also be cool to receive a jar of ink for our fountain pen. I am always impressed with the materials I receive from Cloth & Paper and look forward to every month.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, but it looks like you have until the 16th to subscribe and receive the November box.
