Fruit For Thought “Autumn Spice” October 2018 Review
Here is the card that gives you some more information about the items included.
We also got a bonus bag of fruit snacks in the apple orchard medley flavor.
Pinecone Tote
This pinecone tote is MASSIVE, and I absolutely love it. It would make a great bag to carry to the farmers market, but it is also big enough to store a rolled up blanket in your living room for a touch of fall home décor. I like that it can stand up on its own, as it really adds to the numerous possible ways of using this tote.
Michel Design Works Pumpkin Melody Room Spray, 3 oz – Retail Value $10.99
A lot of this box focuses on tasting the autumn spice, but this room spray helps to make sure you can smell it too! The scent notes include warm pumpkin with apple, cinnamon, and a drop of vanilla, and the end result is a slightly sweet and warm, welcoming scent. The cute fall leaves packaging on this spray means I don’t have to hide it in a cupboard, either- I can leave it on an end table and have the yummy scent within reach.
All American Canning Carrot Cake Jam, 2 oz – Buy an 8 oz jar for $9
This carrot cake jam is so tasty—it tastes just like carrot cake, but I mean that in the best way possible. It had little pieces of carrots that added a nice texture contrast, and the cinnamon and nutmeg spices were delightfully prominent. This with some cream cheese on a cracker would be the perfect match. I also love how unique of an item this is to include in a monthly box—I don’t think I have gotten jam before!
We also received a card directly from All American Canning about the greatness of jam.
Terra Americana Harvest Fruit Dip Mix, 0.6 oz
This dip mix is made with bittersweet cocoa powder, cane sugar, brown sugar, orange, cinnamon, and nutmeg. I think it would be super tasty to dip a fresh apple slice in this dip mix, and I like that it can be made with yogurt instead of whipped cream for a healthier alternative. This would be a great snack pairing with a drink made with the booze infuser also included in the box!
Erin Bakers Low Fat Breakfast Cookie in Pumpkin Spice – Buy a box of 12 for $19.99
Erin Bakers Low Fat Breakfast Cookie in Caramel Apple – Buy a box of 12 for $19.99
These breakfast cookies came in the flavors Pumpkin Spice and Caramel Apple. The pumpkin is baked with fresh pumpkin puree and ginger, nutmeg, and cloves, while the Caramel Apple is baked with dried apple, caramel, and whole grain oats! The cookies themselves were very soft and the flavor was tasty but not super strong. I am not crazy about how carb heavy this is for a breakfast replacement, but I think half of one with some type of protein would be a tasty and well-balanced breakfast!
Orange Spice Booze Infuser, 0.28 oz – Retail Value $6.95
This is such a unique thing that I haven’t seen before—it is a flavor infuser for your alcohol! Orange spice is made with orange peel and warm baking spices and this one infuser can flavor a 750 mL bottle of booze! This would be a great touch to a Thanksgiving for adult beverages, but I bet this could also be infused with Apple cider for some “mocktails,” too.
Lollies by Leah, 3 lollies – Total Retail Value $4.50 ($1.50 each)
I received three lollies in the flavors Red Hot Apple Cider, Pumpkin Bun in the Oven, and Pump Me Up. These flavors were a fun twist on typical lollipops, with flavor descriptions like “pumpkin caramel marshmallow latte” and “pumpkin cinnamon roll with marshmallow topping,” but I found the overall texture of the lollipops to be a bit sticky rather than the hard as glass lollipop texture I prefer—I wouldn’t feel comfortable chomping down on these without fear of hurting my teeth.
The Verdict: Fruit for Thought continues to be a joy to receive every month! I am always greeted with thoughtful curation and great, useful items. The Full-size box costs $49.94 a month ($44.99 plus $4.95 shipping) and I couldn’t find a value for most of the items, but I still believe the value for the money is there. I really love the tote bag included this month, and I also appreciate that we were able to see, smell, and taste the autumn spice theme throughout the box.
