How to be a Redhead (H2BAR) is a monthly subscription box that was started by two redheaded sisters, Adrienne and Stephanie Vendetti. Their goal was to empower all redheads to feel confident in their looks by providing products that are “Redhead Friendly.” This means all items are free of heavy chemicals and complement red hair.
My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Not Your Mother’s Clean Freak Dry Shampoo— Retail $2.50, Listed Value $5
First in the winner’s circle is one of my personal favorites and must-haves: Not Your Mother’s Dry Shampoo! I stock up on the different varieties of this dry shampoo when it is on sale. I have an arsenal of the Unscented, Texturizing Coconut, and the Warm Sugar Tapioca varieties in my bathroom at all times! I am always on the go and try not to wash my hair excessively to maintain my vibrant color and to keep it healthy. This product is my go to and I love that a travel size was included in this month’s box. Best believe I tossed this can in my purse immediately! Trust me, this will be your BFF for those days you accidentally sleep in!
Just For Redheads Ginger Auburn Eyebrow Pencil— Retail Value $13.99, Listed Value $15
I usually prefer cream pots for filling in my eyebrows, but I actually like this pencil! It is on the creamier side which makes the application rather easy. The color is fantastic since it is a darker ginger color that will look gorgeous on most redheads!
Udderly Smooth Hand Lotion (Bonus: With Aloe!) Green Apple Scent, 2oz— Retail Value $1, Listed Value $5
We have come full circle with this September box because I originally received Udderly Smooth lotion in my first H2BAR box in December! Wild, huh? The difference this time around is the fresh, clean apple blossom scent. I tried to find the product online for you guys, but I only found links for the unscented travel size. My hands get incredibly dry throughout the year, so I wanted to show you how effective the cream is with a before and after shot of my hands. As you can see, it works well for me! The price point on this lotion is rather reasonable and it is sold at rather accessible chain stores like Walgreens and Dollar Tree.
Paul Mitchell Invisiblewear Undone Texture Hairspray, 1.5oz — Retail Value $9, Listed Value $5 (found here for $3)
I am a fan of Paul Mitchell products. When one of my close friends was in beauty school, I loaded up on a ton of Paul Mitchell products since she got points. It benefited both of us! I was pleased to find this hairspray in September’s box, especially since it is a texturizing formula! The beauty of this spray is it has hold but your hair won’t feel crunchy. I definitely slipped this in my purse for convenient, on the go hair touch-ups!
LUE by Jean Seo Clear Spot Treatment—Retail Value $15
The final winner in the H2BAR 2018 Beauty Awards is LUE by Jean Seo Clear Spot Treatment. I get breakouts, mainly around my period, so I was eager to try this product since it is, in fact, my time of the month. This product has a woodsy, natural scent that is incredibly pleasant. I applied the spot treatment to what appeared to be a zit on the verge. A few hours later that area seemed a bit calmer. I am impressed and already tossed this spot treatment in my on the go cosmetics bag!
H2BAR Redhead Hair Ties—Retail Value $7.97 (found here for $6)
H2BAR threw in a few bonus items along with the 2018 Beauty Award winners. If you are getting a case of deja vu looking at these hair ties, that is because I received them in my H2BAR January subscription box! I am more than fine getting another pack of these because I tend to lose hair ties. They’re like socks—they just disappear! I love the warm color palette in this pack; they look great in my Ann Margret orange hair! They certainly came in handy when I went swimming down in Florida a few weeks ago. Thanks, H2BAR!
PRID Hyland’s Salve— Retail Value $7.07, Listed Value $8 (found here for $5.65)
This salve has a homeopathic formula and is fantastic for relieving blisters and boils as well as removing thorns, splinters, and ingrown hairs. I used it on one of my blisters I had on my feet walking on my recent trip to Florida and it really helped ease the pain a bit. Plus, this salve has a woodsy scent; it legitimately smells like a roaring campfire!
Pretty Woman NYC Nail Polish in Catch Flights, Not Feelings—Retail Value $7.99
Pretty Woman nail polish is another product that is an H2BAR favorite! This color is perfect for the icy cold weather coming to us in a few short months! Makes me think of the sky on a snowy, wintry day! I don’t have pictures of myself modeling the polish since I get my nails done professionally, but I gifted the polish to a friend. She said that the polish looked great and dried fairly fast!
L’ANZA Heating Oil Shampoo & Conditioner Packettes—Listed Value $2 (found full-sized shampoo here and full-sized conditioner here on sale $31.50 each on sale from $42 each)
Lastly, we have these L’ANZA shampoo and conditioner sample packets! I for one was excited to try these products since they were sulfate free. I avoid sulfates in my shampoo and conditioner like the plague; I want to maintain my vibrant orange locks! I am definitely impressed with how silky my hair is when using this combo. My hair is lustrous, but not weighed down!
Verdict: This month’s H2BAR box certainly had plenty of winners! My favorite items being the Not Your Mother’s dry shampoo, Paul Mitchell hairspray, LUE by Jean Seo spot treatment, PRID salve, and the H2BAR hair ties! There were a few repeat products in this box, but I ain’t mad - I needed more hair ties and can always use more hand cream! The $66.52 value of this box is always unbelievable due to the reasonable cost of $18.98. Even if I don’t want all the pieces, I can pass them along to family and friends and still feel like I got a great deal! The spot treatment alone has a retail value of $15!
