kidpik Fall 2018 Review
When you sign up, they ask you a few questions related to your child's size and style preferences.
I like that kidpik is very specific in some of their options such as "please do not include jeans" so that you can really tailor it to your girl's clothing needs or preferences. I also love that they ask how sparkly your girl is. Mine is pretty sparkly these days!
When you check out, you have the option to return, exchange or donate the items for free using the postage-paid envelope they provided. For donations, they partner with Good + Foundation to donate clothing to girls in need!
Included in the box was a pamphlet with a little thank you note on the front and their social media info on the back. They tend to post a lot on social media, so if you ever want to see the types of outfits they send out, I suggest following them! They also provided information in the booklet on how the process works, which is helpful.
This is the invoice that was sent in the box. As you can see, it provides specifics on the color, size, and price of each item. Our total came to $163.50 for all 7 items, but with the 30% discount for keeping all items, the total comes to $114.45. That’s a savings of $49.05 on these items if we choose to keep everything.
One unique thing about kidpik is that they always include a little free gift for your girl. You get to keep this whether you keep any of the clothes or not. It comes in its own little bag and my daughter found it to be a nice surprise! We received three cute pins: a heart, some french fries, and the word Wow! All super cute and she was excited about them.
I appreciate that kidpik sends shoes in their own little bag. These are great to keep for when you are traveling and need to bring a spare pair but want to keep your packed clothes clean!
Patent Side Zip Sneaker in Pink, Size Toddler 12 - Cost to Keep $29.50 ($20.65 with discount)
As I mentioned, my girl loves sparkly and pink is her current favorite color so these were spot on for her style! I love how easy they are to get on with the side zip, but also you have the laces both for style and tightening them if necessary. My favorite detail is that sparkly silver detail on the sole which makes them pretty unique. The pink has a slight iridescence too and since these are sneakers, they are not only incredibly fashionable but also highly functional for a four-year-old! (You can see her wearing these in several images throughout the review!)
Sequin Belt Bag, one size - Cost to Keep $14.50 ($10.15 with discount)
Our accessory this month was this fun sequined fanny pack with reversible black and silver sequins. I know had a fanny pack as a kid, but it was nowhere near this fancy! This one tightened up just enough to fit her skinny little waist, but I love that she has room to grow into it more. She loves it! (more pictures further along in the review!)
Panne Skater Skirt in Biscay Bay, size XS (5/ 6) - Cost to Keep $14.50 ($10.15 with discount)
The next item up was this adorable skater skirt. It has an elastic waist and is nice and flowy making it excellent for twirling in. I love the crushed velvet and I think the beautiful color is great! It's a perfect fall to winter transitional color and will look so cute with some tights underneath! Liv loves skirts and dresses so she happily wore this the rest of the evening. I think the cost is fair too for such a nice quality skirt.
Here is a closeup of the skirt. Isn't that fabric just so shiny and beautiful?
Outlined Floral Bell Sleeve Dress, Size XS (5/ 6) - Cost to Keep $25.50 ($17.85 with discount)
Some of kidpik's styles, such as this one, feel more mature to me and a bit more fashionable than what I would normally pick out for Liv, but that's also part of the fun! This dress is so cute with the nice straight silhouette and that really fun detail of the bell sleeves. It has a simple zipper on the back, although I learned today that she can fit it over her little head without unzipping, and the fabric is nice and light but also has a lining inside making it feel like a much higher quality dress than some kid dresses. It does feel a bit short on her for my tastes, but I think I'll feel a bit better if I make her wear some tights with it!
Here's a closeup of the beautiful flower detail.
Silver Rocker Jacket, Size XS (5/6) - Cost to Keep $39.50 ($27.65 with discount)
This jacket is definitely not something that I would pick for her, but she saw it and loved it. What's not to love about a nice shiny sparkly silver jacket? I think the details are so fun on this with the zipper and the buttons and although it zips up all the way, I think it is meant to be open at the top when worn. It was hard to get her to stay still at this point, but you might be able to see that the jacket was a tad big on her. I don't think that will stop her from trying to wear it every chance she gets though!
Side Stripe Ponte Legging, Size XS (5/ 6) - Cost to Keep $15.50 ($10.85 with discount)
My daughter is all about skirts and dresses so it is really hard for me to get her to wear pants, especially casual ones like these. She did end up liking them when she tried them on though and liked them even more so when I compared them to the yoga pants that I wear around the house (more than I'd like to admit). They are a nice thick material with an elastic waist and seem like they will hold up well even as hard as she plays! The fit on these was really good too. (Pictured with the next item below!)
Stripe Sleeve Hooded Top, Size XS (5/ 6) - Cost to Keep $24.50 (17.15 with discount)
My daughter has been going through what I've deemed the "ferocious fours" and has become quite rebellious these days, so I had to laugh when I saw this sweatshirt with the word rebel on it. Normally, I wouldn't pick something with a word on it, especially not this particular word, but since she is four and doesn't quite grasp the concept yet, I don't mind letting her wear it. Plus, the sweatshirt is really cute and feels like great quality! I love the design of the word repeated in different colors with the nice sparkly gold stripes on the sleeves. They look great with the heathered gray.
I love the rounded hemline and the fact that it has a hood (we were doing silly pictures at this point!) and goes nicely with her new sneakers. It's a great hoodie for the fall and will be nice into the winter as well. Also pictured here is her fanny pack!
The Verdict: I think it's safe to say that this kidpik box was a win for my daughter! She loved each and every item and was so excited to see them. As for me, I wasn't quite as thrilled, but I did feel like everything was great quality and we will get a lot of use out of the items. I also found the pieces to be fairly unique and I absolutely love that they send shoes which is something my daughter and I both love. I think there were a lot of great mix and match items, although I feel like we could have used a top to go with her skirt. That was the only one that didn't really pair with anything in the box, so it felt sort of out of place. One thing I do love is how easy they make it to donate items if you choose to, and right now they are matching any donation you make, which is awesome! As for the cost of the box, I think that $114.45 is fair for 7 items that included shoes and a jacket, although the average cost of these came to $16.35 which is much higher than their listed average of $13.50 per piece.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? kidpik curates its boxes based on each individual’s preferences as well as what season it is. You might get something that fits your girl’s style even better than the items that we received.

Value Breakdown: This box cost $0 with free shipping and returns. The total retail value of the items inside is $163.50. The invoice lists the cost of each item next to it, but if we keep all 7 items, then we get a 30% discount. This would bring the price down to $114.45 for the 7 items, which is an average of $16.35 per item.
