October 2018 Loot Crate Review – Cursed

October's "Cursed" theme features items from Attack on Titan, Gremlins, American Horror Story, and more!

The box itself has a few pop-out masks for some extra unboxing fun.

Loot Crate has switched to a 'Loot Wear'-style information card - which I'm liking a lot more than the typical info card.

Each panel reveals more information about each item in the box.

Quija Pin - Value $5?

I thought this was a great pin design for the October box! it mimics the classic Quija board cursor.

Each month comes with digital comics - this is actually one of my favorite parts - October brings us Volume #1 of Army of Darkness vs. ReAnimator - I love that we're getting a 123-page volume!!

Attack on Titan Shirt - Value $15?

This month's shirt features Attack on Titan - a now-classic Anime - honestly, I was a bit surprised to see it featured this month as it feels like a bit of a crossover from the Loot Anime crate. Still, it's a cool design for fans of Attack on Titan.

SuperEmoScenes Evil Dead 2 Diorama - Value $20+?

Loot Crate continues its 'Artist Series' with a fun take on a classic franchise - Evil Dead.

The "Artist Series" takes popular designers' work and brings it to life with a 3D build!

It'll arrive in a few pieces to click together.

This is easily my favorite one, yet! I've never been a big fan of the SuperEmoScenesstyle - but I'm kind of liking this one.

Gremlins Socks - Value $10-12?

As someone who grew up with Gizmo, these socks were definitely speaking to me (and to Marne, who quickly called dibs on a pair!). Subscribers would either get the cute and lovable Gizmo or one of his more-destructive Mogwai companions.

The socks are a 98/2 polyester/cotton blend. They're thinner, like a dress sock, and good for Fall and Spring.

American Horror Story Keychain - Value $10?

The final item pays homage to American Horror Story's "Hotel" season. It's a great idea for a keychain - but I tapped out of AHS midway through the Circus season, so I actually never watched this one!

Verdict: I really enjoyed the items from the franchises that I'm nostalgic and fond of - the socks, pin, and little figure were all favorites for me this month. The shirt and keychain were both good designs, but just not for me, personally - so I'm curious to hear what your thoughts were!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, You’ll see the current them on the landing page – theme cutoffs are the 19th of each month at midnight EST.

COUPON – Save 10% off any length subscription, or $3 off month-to-month with coupon code ADDICTION or SAVE3

The Evil Dead 2 mini diorama is a pure win for me. The rest is ok to meh, but with the Emo Ash they make the box worthwhile. I’m not a big fan of Loot Crate pins, although I used to love collecting the Geek Fuel ones and the rest isn’t really anything special, even the shirt, which while a fine design to me, falls just on how bland it is. The graphic chosen could also be better – maybe Erin facing a mob of regular Titans? Or Erin vs. Female within the city, surrounded by falling buildings? There are certainly better ideas than just sticking the Colossal in there and adding… who is that? I’m guessing Mikasa? Can’t really tell, which is yet another part of why this shirt doesn’t really appeal to me. The socks are ok (mine also have Gizmo, but I was told someone got Stripe on theirs), but again, too thin for winter. The small stuff is ok, but not really useful, just tchotchke. Still to me the total value is fine, specially the masks are a nice and welcome touch.

Omg, I want that keychain. I am such a AHS fangirl.

Even though I don’t watch any of the shows/movies these items are from, the designs of all the items appeal to me. Maybe I’m cursed?
