Mommy Mailbox October 2018 "Treat" Review
Each box comes with a card detailing the month’s products and brands. The theme this month is “Treat” and the featured blogger is Kerry Eagan. Sometimes bloggers are simply promotional sponsors, but other times they may inspire the theme or even curate items for the box that month.
Canvas Bronze Druzy Earrings - Listed Retail Value $12 (These weren't listed on their website, FYI!)
I love these earrings! The worn rose-gold color is so pretty and they are definitely my style. I love that the texture of the bronze druzy crystals makes it such a fun statement piece, yet the size keeps them from being too bold. When the light hits them just right, they give off a fun sparkle!
Here are the earrings on. They are just long enough to add a little bit of an accent to any outfit and I foresee these being a fall staple for me to dress up the more neutral colors in my wardrobe!
Manna Kadar Precision Point Eyeliner in Black, Full Size! - Retail Value $21
While I wasn't surprised to find a Manna Kadar product in my box, I was surprised at how much I liked this liquid eyeliner. I have a collection of liquid liners sitting on my shelf that I rarely use because my hands just aren't steady enough to get the look right (besides the fact that I don't often opt for bold eye looks these days), but this tip was so fine and much stiffer (in a good way!) meaning that I had a lot more control than others I have tried. I was able to draw a line above my upper lashes and then use the smaller tip to fill in without creating awful smudges everywhere like I usually do! Plus, the tapered shape of this tube is fun!
Here it is swatched, and let me tell you, this stuff has staying power! I swatched it and forgot about it and this line stayed on all day through all my daily activities which included lots of baby holding with this arm. It did remove easily with just soap and water though, which was another great perk!
Crown 3 Pc. Pro Brush Trio in white and pink - Retail Value $29.95
This set of brushes is so pretty with the white handles and pink and white bristles! I am a fan of Crown brushes and how soft and densely packed their bristles are. I couldn't find these brushes listed on their site, but it looks like the smaller one would be ideal for concealing or highlighting, while the medium brush would be good for adding some color or contour to your cheekbones and the larger brush would be great for a powder finish!
They also have this great pro grip detail on the handle which is helpful.
Melville Candies Giant Halloween Marshmallow - Estimated Value $3.08 (Buy 12 for $36.99)
This large marshmallow treat is the perfect nod to fall and Halloween with its orange and brown sprinkles. This was a huge marshmallow and had a very thin coating of chocolate over it underneath of the sprinkles. It had sort of a chalky taste that I actually enjoyed because it meant it wasn't a super sweet taste, but more subtle in flavor. It was a very rich treat to me though so I was happy to let the kids finish it for me which they did with enthusiasm!
Paddywax Apothecary 2 oz. Candle in Vetiver & Cardamom - Estimated Value $5.00 (I could not find this scent in this size on their site so I linked to a similar size!)
I like that this candle comes in a small brass tin, although after checking out their site, I would have been happy with any design since there are a lot of great ones! This style makes a great little accent for any shelf and the scent was sweet and reminiscent of fall with the spiciness of the cardamom. I enjoy the scent of vetiver which is very earthy, but sometimes it can be too strong for me, however, the cardamom really helped to tone it down and balance it out in this case. It will be nice to use this on a cool fall evening for some ambiance!
Verdict: I really enjoyed the items I received in this month's Mommy Mailbox. I think the mix of products was great and that each item was in itself a "treat" like the theme suggests. The items all felt like they were great quality and the curation seemed geared towards pampering moms as it should be! I think my favorite item this month has to be the earrings though because they are just so perfectly suited to my style, but that eyeliner was also a nice surprise! I had to estimate a bit, but the total value came to $71.03 which is great for a $33.95 box!
